Heck we dont even know if you are CCP spies here in JT.

And in the same way, how do we know who you are? Why not take quercetum at his word? He/she said, "I’m completely willing to change my mind ..."

I can understand your frustration if some of us are reluctant to believe what we see and read in the western media. But that reluctance is built on experience. I'm no fan of the CCP, but I'm also no fan of other groups that suppress free thinking. Can you tell us and support with evidence that there are no Islamist fundamentalist groups in Xinjiang who try to force others to their point of view? And can you show us the politics that would take over if the CCP relaxed their hold - would it allow freedom of thought and expression?

Because they know that people like you wont even listen even after that confession

Do you have evidence of genocide and millions in camps? Please share so the ignorant can be enlightened.

Dont let me start how they opressed the muslims, uyghur education etc. one advice: dont be ignorant.

I hope your situation improves. What you’re describing is China’s draconian way of throwing away the good apples along with the bad ones. My beef is with the propaganda of “genocide” and rumors of millions in camps with thousands being killed and systemically raped and put through forced sterilization. I’d like to see evidence and judge for myself. I remain skeptical.

Don’t worry tibet n Xinjiang karma is about to be served to china from legt right front back n center soon proof n evidence china provides to journalists is as spooky as corona pandemic’s origins as no one in the world believes them

Are you suggesting that Uyghurs are liars?

Watch the BBC documentaries where the Uighur interviewees describe their language and vocational classes. The facilities look like schools and don’t look like concentration camps or even prisons.

There is no evidence of any of the narratives developed by the US and a few of its allies. None of the Muslim nations support these narratives.

Considering the scale of these accusations (millions of people in concentration camps, forced labor, systematic rape, sterilization by electric shock vibrators etc.) with all the people that are involved, with all the smartphones and technology that is available, in this day and age, for all these years, it doesn’t add up.

We have many photos of the camps in the 1930’s. No photos in 2021. The incarcerated Uighurs have smart phones. That’s what incriminated them; evidence of ties to extremists in their phones. So if they have phones and still do in these centers, you’d think they send a photo or video testimonies seeking for help.

I’m completely willing to change my mind if there are verified locations and pictures of concentration camps that isn’t not some school or public building. There has not been evidence. What have you seen?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Conveniently you fail to mention the high amount of surveillance that the people are under,

There is surveillance. Detention centers and prisons without surveillance hardly exist. Would you consider surveillance genocide?

and that China is switching to subtler methods of controlling Uyghurs to avoid the scrutiny of the west.

I don’t read that as China is switching from “genocide” to subtler methods of control. I have no doubt they are keeping control of Uighurs perceived to have ties with extremists.

I am questioning genocide because this started out much much like the Colin Powell WMD lie where we heard Iraqi soldiers go to hospitals and just pull Iraqi babies from incubators leaving them on the floor. If they can come up with such fake testimonies, isn’t it our responsibility to hold judgment until evidence?

He who doesn’t look gets took Where is the evidence of genocide? What led you to believe Uighurs are being killed?

Spare a thought for the young people there. A choice between surveillance on one side from CCP and on the other from the religious. I can see why some might reach for the alcohol.

Thanks for the article link, quercetum.

Yeah, I mean the CCP have let in reporters and cameras and are very transparent about it all, right?

That's your evidence that there is genocide? If you have been convinced that genocide is taking place, then surely there is evidence. What did you base your decision on? I am skeptical but open to viewing the evidence.

If they didn't let in reporters and cameras, how did BBC News get the interviews?

The AP article seems to me an admission that there is no genocide.

China has no business in Tibet. Give Tibet back to the people of Tibet!

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Lived in Beijing in the '80s, a time of optimism. How it's turned out is a tragedy of historic proportion.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Where is the evidence of genocide? There are millions in these Uighur camps since 2014 and no pictures or videos. Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp houses not even one thousand and there are leaked pictures.

Yeah, I mean the CCP have let in reporters and cameras and are very transparent about it all, right? This information is readily available and people are just ignoring it, right?

At least, based on your post, I assume that must be the case, for no one could be so silly as to think that if the CCP wasn't being transparent, these videos would be readily available.

As for Xinjiang, there is a genocide happening in front of the world and very little is being done to stop it. Let’s not repeat the 1930s!!!!

Not true. If it's happening in front of the whole world, please produce your source that there is genocide. Otherwise it's another "weapons of mass destruction" play out of the old playbook.

The AP is basically admitting there is no genocide.

The more people that are aware about genocide the better I’d say.

It s obvious that the Olympics are not about anything other than money…

7 ( +7 / -0 )

A police spokesman told AFP the three protesters arrested at the Acropolis on Sunday would be freed pending a trial in January.

A judicial source said they will be charged with disturbing the peace at an archaeological site, a misdemeanor offense that usually results in a suspended sentence.

It's shamefully revealing how much Greece has become submissive to China's money...

Let me guess how Beijing will react: order local Chinese expats to organize a "spontaneous" counter mob protest in order to keep out Tibet/Uighur supporters, and to let flame run. Such is exactly what happened to the global torch relays up to the 2008 Beijing Summer Games.

Shame on China for it's horrible human rights record and shame on the IOC for looking the other way under the guise of "neutrality".

5 ( +6 / -1 )

The irony of all of this is when the world most democratic nations will soon send their best athletes to compete in order to get those medals.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

People confronting Xi in any area of communication in china disappear!

It has basically become a much larger and more dangerous version of Nth Korea!

What has been done to the Tibetans is a blight on humanity! Sadly the Chinese are not the only ones to carry out such blights!

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Bach didn't care about the life and death of Japanese either, he's not the person to convince but to take away from his stained paycheque. IOC made the mistake for 2008 and made it again for 2022. They are without shame and must have their "Olympic Spirit" ended. Olympics cannot be allowed under tyranny

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Good for the activists! I hope they keep it up.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

the IOC's hard-core stance of neutrality makes them, ironically, more totalitarian in their beliefs LLF

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Why do people not confront Xi on social media platform such as Twitter

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Tibet, Xinjiang are sores that China desperately tries to hide. Tibetans have been broken by continuous violence, random executions and a concerted drive to destroy their culture.

As for Xinjiang, there is a genocide happening in front of the world and very little is being done to stop it. Let’s not repeat the 1930s!!!!

Fighto!

Agree 100%.

Awesome to see this farcical ceremony in Greece overshadowed by freedom fighters for Tibet. Shame on Greece for hosting the event.

We're calling on the sponsors, the broadcasters, the international governments to not be complicit in genocide and to boycott Beijing 2022," Chemi Lhamo said, according to Free Tibet.

Brilliantly said by someone whose nation is being subjected to genocide by China.

Boycott the Genocide Games 2022.
