Good luck with that.

What a stupid way to go about making any sort of decision. You're not being brave in the face of adversity, you're being a stubborn old man. You're saying that even if Tokyo had 10,000 (official) cases a day, you'd still stick to your ridiculous plan? Pathetic

A source close to Suga said the decision on the games’ fate would be “up to the United States.” The games “would have no sponsors if U.S. athletes are absent,” the source added.

Each athlete could hold an event in their own native country simultaneously, and it could all be connected on zoom.

Other sports are going on, even in the winter when infections are soaring. So it's not very hard to imagine the olympics going on in some shape or form.

"If we can hold a big event like the Tokyo Olympics alongside the coronavirus, the Tokyo model will become one of our legacies."

Who is "our" in this case?

Love the comments here. If there is one thing JT readers can agree on its cancellation of the Tokyo Olympics.

if the Japanese govt had started vaccinating a month ago like many other countries maybe they would have a remote chance but they totally blew it.

Suga looks like a deer in the headlights of a speeding bullet train.

Australian Open within a country that has worked very hard to control the spread still had positives, with vastly fewer participants. Utterly laughable that anyone would think holding these games would not be a disaster.
