Congratulations!

Congratulations to China.
They are really winning a lot today, swimming, mixed badminton, men and women single table tennis.
I know Mima Ito lost today too, but congratulations to her too! Don't lose heart, Ito-san.

Also in Olympic swimming, “Congratulations!” to YuFei Zhang for HER Olympic Gold.
To remind her, ‘handlers’ tossed their country’s flag to her feet from the stands above as she left the podium. She cordially took celebratory photos for the media, flanked by the silver & bronze medalists, ALL draped under her countries’ flag. - The media & photographers loved it!
Without overt protest, the silver & bronze medalists quietly & respectfully moved aside and took separate photos together.

Well done to the ladies. Siobhan Haughey from neighbouring Hong Kong also qualified second fastest in the 200m free semis today - another silver for her is likely, but what an achievement if she were to get the gold. Rooting for the underdogs rather than the big nations.
I love how China, Japan and USA are playing musical chairs on the medal table. One overtakes the other, and then hours later, another one takes the top spot, and it continues. Somehow, I think USA are going to have a better second week, thanks to athletics. We shall see.

My mistake, HK's Siobhan already got silver in 200m. She's in the final of the 100m.

That last Chinese changeover looked real dodgy from here. They were second but somehow came out ahead.
Pukey2
It's called 'swimming faster'.

@nandakandamanda,
I thought so too.
They were well behind the Aussies and suddenly the Chinese anchor was in the water before the Oz girl.

nanda:
I rewatched that, and there was NOTHING dodgy. The third swimmer, Zhang, caught up the Australian and touched the wall first by a split second. Split second, but you still notice it.
When you don't want a certain team to win, you start imagining 'dodgy' things.
Nice try.

Check their urine and blood samples carefully!

All three teams broke world records. Check each team's urine and blood samples carefully!

Congratulations to Yang Junxuan, Zhang Yufei, Li Bingjie and Tang Muhan. Well done.
You literally do this on every single olympic related thread.
You do know that there is almost zero chance of any of the athletes reading this site, right?
Weirdo.
Pukey2
Once again, congratulations to Yang Junxuan, Zhang Yufei, Li Bingjie and Tang Muhan

I forgot to say congratulations to Zhang Yufei for winning her own gold just before this team gold!!!
nandakandamanda
Pukey2, thank you for your feedback on that changeover. Much appreciated.

The new ”Butterfly Queen” is a BIG story back home tonight:
“Today Zhang Yufei steadily took the lead all the way and won the gold despite the impressive strength of her American competitors,” said China’s state backed Xinhua news agency.

I didn't see the race, but assume everything was legal. It isn't like any stroke can't be used.
Congratulations. It is good to upset the favorites. Being the fastest when it matters is very important.
