Excellent! Nelly led from start to finish and showed mettle in crunch time! Well done! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

Additionally her sister Jessica shot -9 in the final round.

Also, tip of the hat to NZ Lydia Ko. A real sweetheart and popular golfer with an excellent disposition who got bronze.

Finally, Japan's Inami hung in there when times were tough and had a solid final round to get silver. Well done.

Was watching this until the lightning warning stopped play. Sorry I missed the ending. So much unexpected drama at the top end that it could have gone any of several ways. Fascinating and impressive stuff.

Way to go!

USA!

The passes they carry around their necks are so huge they interfere with play time.

Waw. Our nation first golf olympic medal. Didn't expect that. Not a fan of golf but still very happy for Mone Inami. Also congratz to the other athletes too.

Well said @Randy Johnson.

Nelly was steady from tee to green the entire event.

GO USA!!!!!!!!!!! Don't quit now! 100 medals over the threshold.

The sisses are aw-right!

Saso Yuka-san finished with a flurry too - after a rough start, shooting better after each day

“ Congratulations !! ” to Nelly Korda on her GOLD medal.

“ Congratulations !! ” to Mone Inami and Lydia Ko on THEIR Silver & Bronze medals.

“ Congratulations !! ” to ALL the World’s Athletes in capturing JAPAN’s ‘hearts, minds & medals’ for 2 weeks in the sun in Summer of 2021 !!

Quizzically, *someone is continually allowed to inject this out-dated *commentary into every thread, every day:

*- @Kentarogaijin 3:20pm: “I imagine trumpyclown's snobbish reaction, very different from how he reacted to women's soccer.. Pathetic little Duce, lol.” *

(Sophmoronic mispellings?)

More quizzically: What’s the appeal and how does it create revenue for the media here? Seems like a turn-off for most readers who’ve put the past behind them and are moving forward.

Mone Inami of Japan delivered the golf-loving host nation a silver medal, and it was nearly better than that.

In the playoff for the silver, Ko found a bunker off the tee on the 18th hole, had to lay up and missed a 10-foot par putt.

Ko had to settle for the bronze, after winning the silver in 2016 at Rio de Janeiro.

As I was watching, I wondered whether Inami and Ko could have agreed to share Silver, similar to what occurred in the men’s high jump the other day, when the athletes from Italy and Qatar decided to share Gold instead of having a jump-off.

Those two guys should have been made to share the silver because they chickened out of a play-off.

A sweep of men's and women's golf is very improbable, as it's a very competitive sport and anything can happen over 4 days and 72 holes, but the US amazingly pulled it off

I love Golf.

Especially woman's golf.

When the ladies swing, you can see every aspect of the mechanics f the swing and ball striking.

And honestly think a woman's swing is better than the mens. :-)

Congratulations NellY!

The Filipina who gets the honour of having her name written in kanji?

This was a wonderful match to watch. Everyone played as Champions! It took so much grit to win this. Congratulations to Ms. Nelly and everyone that competed.
