Like her trainer mentioned in her Netflix show, the only way for this to be successful is for her to win it. I hope she does! Such a unique and talented person!

Good for Naomi, though it wasn’t the best of performances.
Hope she wins the gold.
I just loved how politely she greeted Zheng after the match. She really is a role model!!!

Very chatty to the press when Olympic sponsors are involved.
Fighto!
And the "experts" said she couldn't handle pressure.
Goes to show just how much the haters know.
Go Naomi!!

Welcome back Naomi! this was not just a comfertable win, she destroyed Zheng.
I like the way she did her hair and top as well, very fitting.

Outside is too hot to play games. Athletes must win the heat first out there.

I am for Naomi all the way.

Dominant performance by Osaka, Barty didn’t look like she really cared to be there and did more to lose than her opponent had to do to win.
The other big result was lowly ranked NIshikori’s win over Rublev. Go Kei! Maybe Tokyo 2020 will be his tournament?

Was Barty asleep?

"More than anything else I'm just focused on playing tennis," Osaka said. - Hopefully, this will become ‘Her mantra’ and less about the ‘optics’ her ‘handlers’ were forcing here to embrace.

When she said NihaoMa to Zheng after the match was in her favor I was sent a shivering spine up to my backbone. Congrats.

Well done Naomi......
Ash seemed a little bit flat.......alot of unforced errors.
Take nothing away from Sara though....hope she progresses further.

It's Faster, Stronger, Higher, Together. Japanese athletes have arrived well-prepared to make Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games a memorable experience.

Nice win and welcome home Naomi!
Sorry about Ash losing but she's had a lot of travel and tennis lately.

That's why her match was suspiciously moved from Saturday to Sunday - so she can be at the Opening Ceremony

Sponsors couldn’t have staged a better photo than the one captured naturally here.
