Let's hope the pandemic is over by then

Whenever it is to be held, better fix the time table asap. Qualifying events and preparations for athletes would be largely affected.

If Ikee Rikako manages to compete in the delayed Olympics, it would be the most symbolic and epic comeback imaginable.

noone cares

Well, it should be held in 2022 at the earliest. Even commentators last night on TV were saying that we have no idea when this pandemic will end and that it is far too early to rush this through now with the real possiblity that this crisis won't be over by then. Nobody knows when this is normalcy will return, so let's all calm down, let the virus runs it's course, and only then, think about the Olympics.
Japan: relax, calm down and take care of your people first! The Olympics is not going anywhere.
IOC/JOC: Make a date in 2021, and you face the prospect of wasting more money/time, all for nothing. And you will look even more foolish than you do now.

And what if the virus never goes away? What then? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
N. Knight
It is not going away... just like all the other corona viruses, colds and flu that we currently live with... educate yourself.
Wallace Fred
Lympics ain't happening. Doubters are simply living in denial.
Stewart
Karyuudo- we will all be immune to it and it won’t matter.
that person
@N. Knight
despite that that was a needlessly rude comment, and you’re likely correct, Karyuudo does have a good point. It takes a long time to get to know someone. People surprise and disappoint. We don’t know that much about this.
For all we know it could be bio warfare, or it could creep up later in someone’s life, morphed into something bigger.
I’m not paranoid, pessimistic, or even very worried about this pandemic, just keeping it real

Could be, would be, can be etc
The recurring pronouncements are making my head spin like a discus...

Good to see the IOC is finally reading my posts:
That said bach is right getting things lined up etc is going to be absolutely BRUTAL. And the costs racked & racking up as I type is going to make these games (even if CANCELLED) the most expensive by a LONG LONG LONG SHOT!!!
I work in logistics & my goal was to still be alive come mid Sept, I don't know if I can take another 12-15mth of this Olympic BS, it is extremely mentally draining & its going to be insane going forward, DAMN I need to win that LOTO6!!!

They learn nothing. Still scheduling when really no one has any ideas when this situation will be over in Japan or the rest of the world. Some experts are suggesting 12 -18 months till a vaccine is found and distributed. Maybe it will be sooner. Who knows. Meanwhile Tokyo is about to go in to overshoot and likely a lockdown will follow. How bad will it get.
Scheduling the next Olympics is not going to be on anyone's priority for a while.
Do the hustle
the rescheduled Tokyo Games faced "thousands" of logistical and financial problems
Oh, dur! Did he work this out himself or was he advised by a panel of experts?
The games cannot be held in winter. Therefore, the earliest would be May next year.

Believe it or not, these things take a lot of planning.

It won't be. No virus ever is. That is how viruses work, like Influenza, Measles, Mumps, etc. However, there will hopefully be a vaccine to prevent contracting it, and more effective treatment for those who do.
Of course, this will require people actually get vaccinated. And, there will no doubt still be plenty of moron anti-vaxxers out there who will be responsible for patches of contagion, as they are currently for such instances of measles, etc. But, once a vaccine is available, it should bring the world back to normal at some point.

Every day Olympics Olympics Olympics. You would think the country's survival depended on it or something. Man, give it a rest already. It's not the Second Coming!
Badge213
And Japan Today keeps reporting and reporting it. When something's good, someone's always going to find something bad about it. That's how JT makes it's money man!

I hope they don't schedule it for late July/ early August when, according to Abe, the temperature is perfect for athletes but, according to reality, it's the worst.
And Abe 'says' he cared about the health of the athletes when he - and he alone apparently - postponed the Olympics.
Barge
He's not even wearing a mask.

You see? I called this at the beginning of the outbreak, just when the Diamond Princess was becoming a thing -- that this was the perfect chance for Japan to save face. They were going to be screwed due to the heat, and it was going to cause a lot of death, but now they can delay the Olympics from summer and hold them at a time that not only avoids the heat, but allows them to save face for the rescheduling. It's a shame they just waited until it was more obvious that they don't care one wit about the health of the spectators, athletes, or the nation as a whole if it came to lives vs. Olympics, until they were backed into a corner. Heck, less than a week ago they were still saying it was "unthinkable" to delay or cancel.

Not held in climate change summer 45 degrees is good.
not held M10 predicted earthquake is better.
not held in close proximity to Fukushima uncontrollable nuclear disaster is better, better.
japan should have a safe olympics. Why everything is for Tokyo? Rainbow Bridge apartments?
gokai_wo_maneku
At least reschedule the Olympics for October, line the 1964 Olympics. Much better, cooler weather.
therougou
are they going to do it during the Euros?

Mocheake that is exactly what I thought in 2016 when I arrived here. Every day on the news - tsumaranai

No one party can decide the dates until the corona virus cure is found. Now, stop wasting time.
