I wish that I had high natural testosterone…

What a sham.

Maybe in the future the Olympic committee will look at classifying the athletes not based on sex but based on testosterone levels? That's the way it seems to be going.

So women with a natural advantage, basically what every super elite athlete ever has, are banned yet a transgender person who competed at a high level as a man is perfectly ok…… certainly makes sense

so according to the rule talking about women with more natural advantage... Shouldn't Phelps have been banned for having long arms and a body specifically suitable for swimming? Can you even imagine swimming without this superstar?

An utterly BS rule.... If you want "standardized competitors", you better have "Olympics for ROBOTS".

Leave the girls as they are .... For God's sake, it's 'natural' testosterone.

Hope the athletes or their sporting bodies don't force them to take them pills or go under the knife... Pills have side effects..not sure of what surgery does ....But you mess with your body for small gains, you mess with a lifetime of effects.

I have lost a lot of respect for sport- and particularly for the Olympics in the last few months.

The Soviets were amateurs compared to today’s Olympians.

Well that should be the case, but some Soviet era world records still stand which is pretty crazy all things considered.

The problem is that these women are intersex, having internal male sex organs that produce that excess testosterone. I am not sure what the best way to deal with this would be, but what we saw when Semenya was also not fair for the rest of the field.

For some genetic reason the incidence of intersex is much higher in southern African women than anywhere else in the world.

When she has a baby, will this debate be over?

It isn't just hormone levels. There are other aspects which make a difference in performance too. Different people have more fast-twitch muscle, which it good for certain sports. Should they be singled out too?

Trans people are already singled out. How many world-class trans-men are competing at the Olympics? Does nobody complain about them too?

Just trying to determine the parameters of the complaints.

DSD Regulations only apply to the 46 XY male karyotype intersex people.

Mboma and Masilingi should be 46 XY males who were not masculinized during fetal development. They were associated with female gender at birth, but their gonads (testicular tissue) should have started to produce high levels of testosterone during puberty.

According to Namibia Olympic committee, these athletes were not aware of their condition before Olympics, but in most cases, this condition is diagnosed during puberty as affected individual will not have menarche as they have no uterus. Another common finding is bilateral inguinal hernia, caused by testicular descent.

Caster Semanya, Burundi’s Francine Niyonsaba and Kenyan Margaret Wambui also have same condition.

Wow the most predictable outcome has manifested. Banned from 400 to 800 so, they enter the 200 and begin dominating. I see the WA imposing more restrictions if they win.

I’m on the side of letting them compete in any event with no restrictions. Phleps had a body better for swimming, Bolt had a freakishly long stride with the fast twitch fibers to help. Theses are natural outliers unlike a certain athlete who scratched out of their lifting event yesterday.

Note the omission of the fact this only applies to women.

The testosterone rules, which were introduced in 2018,

Note the 2018 it is very important.

In 2018 the level of testosterone for Transgender female athletes was set at  5nmol/L and immediately after this born females had to do the same.

Well if one ever makes it even close maybe then we will fine out

But in reality not a single Trand male has even come close.

6 trans-women came close 1 made it. 2 is on the reserve BMX 1 USA runner and one Brazilian volleyball player got disqualified for testosterone levels, one USA runner was involved crash in the Olympic qualifying races and failed to qualify.

otherwise 2 USA female runners both far faster than any born female would be competing.

Again not a single trans-male has even come close.

There are acceptable levels of testosterone, established for males. Indeed, it is one of the standards for testing & determining the used of PEDs. Doping, the end all is an increase in testosterone.

Better living thru chemistry has always been a part & parcel of the Olympics. Just as Marion Jones, Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis, to mention a few.

Please do not try That!

There is absolutely NO upper natural testosterone for men competing in Sports.

Do not try and confuse the subject here.

These women are not taking PEDs this in their natural body and they are being forced to suppress their natural levels because those men now competing as women have to.

The world is getting so complicated. What does it mean when they are said to have a very high level of natural testosterone? Is this due to genetics, their upbringing, their diet, or what? Well, they seem to be very nice people, and congrats to them.

On a somewhat related topic, I think that it is a shame that Simone Biles, who has been prescribed Ritalin since a very young age, was not allowed to take it while in Japan. The lack of Ritalin seems to have really messed up her sense of timing and balance. I hope she doesn't get injured if she competes Tuesday.
