how big of Japan..

Fine for her, risky for some. So, what special accommodations will be made for her and the child? (Plus husband, plus wetnurse/nanny, etc)

The daily yet hypocritically politicizing of Their Olympic “Circus” continues, in many forms.

Well, at least, she can now call much-needed attention to the plight of working mothers and inadequate daycare facilities for infants and toddlers in Japan.

*Dare she breastfeed from the benches***?** Perhaps she will “pump” her breasts between quarters and have the milk sent the child in the dormitories?

Perhaps, the IOC politilogic must be: if biologically born men can now recognized and compete equally as women and against women, then breastfeeding athletes & their infants should be allowed during a pandemic as well?

Clap, clap, clap...

Yes Mam,

Absolutely you can bring your baby with you, I solute you and all women like you.

Why risk it? Japan has quite the (under reported) covid problem!

What is the risk? The baby will be with Mom. It isn't like babies are off running to the local pub - at least not without Mom coming too. I hope a nanny or grandma will be allowed into Japan too. Babies are tough - definitely a 2-person job.

All these special exceptions for the Olympics, while the people living and working in Japan can still not get dependency visas for their husbands or children. It's just heartbreaking what we have been put through since December. When will they allow dependency visas again!?

With the new Delta Plus variant you can get it just walking next to an infected in a close space.

Why are the foreign athletes going to Tokyo?

Anything else we can do for you, ma’am? A 24-hour crèche, at taxpayer expense? A red carpet for when you and the ankle biter arrive? Few hundred dollars’ worth of toys for when it gets bored?

I wonder who will be taking care of her baby while she is with the team. Reliable baby sitter services in Japan are hard to find in the hour of need. I feel sorry for the poor baby traveling so far during a pandemic only to spend bulk of the time away from the mother. Imagine if she gets infected while in Japan. Well at least she won’t blame her baby for missing the Olympics!

It’s the whole “women are superhuman and can do it all, whoooo, yeah, go women” zeitgeist. Apparently if you doubt for a moment that every single woman in the world can’t take care of a kid, win an Olympic gold, and probably get a PhD in her spare time, you are hopelessly out of touch with the times.

That cannot be the best possible in game picture of her. Really, JT?

And wow, IOC. Such gentle people to allow such a thing. You guys want a cookie?

And this player STILL insists on bring her baby to Corona Japan?

If she seriously does not have a friend, family, or close person to help out and take care of this baby in her home country, maybe going to a foreign country isn't really the best time for her?

The Covid Abe Olympics progress onward and off the cliff.

Canadian Women's team. Hasn't won a medal since 2007. Recently, defeated by Puerto Rico and Brazil.

It will be an early exit. No reason to drag and infant/baby/child across a vast ocean to be breastfed, during a pandemic.

sure

Canadian basketball player Kim Gaucher, who is breastfeeding her infant daughter, has won in her quest to bring the baby to the Tokyo Olympics, which she called “the right decision for women in sports.”

I don´t think that is much of an issue, since there will hardly be an overwhelming number of breastfeeding athletes. Maybe just her?

Common sense prevails.

And she has her teammates and staff to help her

It'll be fine
