This is her first international competition. That's just crazy.

Whenever something like that happens, I have to wonder if she is really old enough to compete. It wouldn't be the first or second time the Chinese have faked ages and provided bogus credentials for divers.

And gymnastics is not the only sport in which Chinese athletes’ birth dates seem changeable. The Los Angeles Times has received records for female diver Chen Ruolin that indicated her birth date as April 26, 1994, changed in 2007.

As reported by the New China (Xinhua) news agency on July 18, Chen was born Dec. 12, 1992, in the Jiangsu province.

But according to a 2003 Chinese national diving registration list that still could be found online as of Sunday night, Chen was born on April 26, 1994. Her birth date remained the same in 2004, 2005 and 2006 but on the 2007 list, it was changed to Dec. 12, 1992.

I don't blame the girls or their families if this proves to be an illegal diver. To me, she looks 9 yrs old. In my mind, this is a tentative Gold until it is proven her birthday doesn't change over the next 10 yrs.

The older Chen Yuxi has been around a bit and is an excellent diver. She 100% deserves the medal. Congratulations to all, regardless. Getting that number of 10s is unbelievable. I haven't watched the event yet (live was 2am local here).

Melissa Wu (AUS) has always been very close to medals in the individual 10M for over a decade. She has a silver from the 2008 games in 10M Synchronized diving. Congratulations to her.

I feel for the Brits and Canadians. Something about huge competitions is their kryptonite. Lois (9th) and Meghan (13th) and Celina (23th). Any of them were capable the the bronze on their best days.
