Amen and thank you! Thank you again Canada...

As the article states when she criticized holding the games last year, soon Canada decided to pull out. I hope the same thing happens again. And nobody can say she doesn't know what she is talking about, she has participated in 6 Olympics, so she has the chops to speak from the heart. Also being an almost graduate physician, she also knows how bad the virus can be. A truly wonderful Canadian!

This lady makes sense. I wouldn't argue with her.

wise words. with an epic closure:

"There's no winner in this, whether it's canceled or goes ahead,: she said. "

Somebody.... PLEASE put this lady in charge!

Has this made it to the Japanese news?

It totally clear as day that the Tokyo Games should be postpone again. You don't need a team of Medical expert to tell you logic. Don,t give me the BS about competitors having spent the last 4 years preparing. 99.9 % of competitors prepare for local, state, national and world championship every year. The only reason for not postponing the game is the fact that the IOC have taken and spent the money paid for the TV rights.

To a large extent, the medical and health experts should help to decide if the Olympics is to take place. Like it or not, it would be highly advisable for IOC not to behave in an obstinate manner..

She is an unassuming national hero of Canada who speaks truth with no political agenda - that's all.

Last time I checked it's being held in a democratic country called Japan, not a hospital in Canada

If the people were to directly decide the games would not be held this year either. The point is that the people making those decisions are not reflecting the opinion of the people nor have any authority nor experience to decide if something can be safely held or not.

Her convictions and absolutely huge status here in Canada (four Olympic Gold in Hockey, currently in doctor training) helped our gutless Team Canada leaders pull out last year. Same problem this year, they won't decide. Wickenheiser will be needed again. This I read as a warning shot to them again.

As a Canadian she represents the best of us. Not only an athlete but a 4x Olympic champion. Not only has a medical perspective but training to be a doctor with first hand experience right now today fighting COVID. The pinnicles of excellence this woman drives toward every single day is utterly beyond any oyagi's comprehension

If Tokyo had bothered to have 40,000 tests a day not the embarassing 9000 or less, if these 'emergencies' were not safety theatre, Tokyo IOC would have had a champion by their side.

This is who you needed, but never convinced.

Proud to be Canadian!

Who is this lady? Wickenheiser for Prime!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Agree. Let the medical experts make the call.

Who voted Suga anyway?

he's there just temporarily because Abe disappeared abruptly after some legal complications.

Silly goose, we don't live in fairy tale land. Independent volunteer expert team of doctors wouldn't even be working for the IOC now, they would be working to contain the spread or saving lives.

Perfectly accurate.

She is right, completely right but not cancellation but postponement to 2022 is the way to go.
