Tawdry political gestures from Baron von Ripper-off and Friar Tuck.

What was all that about keeping politics out of sport?

IOC hypocrisy level: 98.7 and rising.

It would have been more appropriate if the Bottakuri Danshoku had visited Tohoku and/ or Fukushima, as one of the original selling points of this circus was recovery from the earthquake and tsunami.

This guy represents the IOC. No wonder I dislike the IOC.

It’s not a good example to the athletes and support staff who are locked up during their preparations while he trips around Japan ticking off his bucket list items.

A PR stunt of the lowest order.

These men have no conscience, no morals, no decency!

How the Japanese government and the world permit this garbage to proceed is unbelievable!

What an insult. To this fella Japan means only one thing.

Lots of CASH in his pocket.

Shouldn't he remain within a specific locale - instead of sightseeing.

Apparently, he neither reads the news or has regular postings about the pandemic:

JT Headlines: Sydney and Darwin in COVID-19 lockdowns; NZ extends alert level. AND. India and five other countries to require further SARSCoV-2 testing.

The Covid Olympics will be EPIC. An epic disaster.

I hope he is hounded with protesters every hour of his time in Japan, everywhere he goes...

”*Like…” *@JRJ 11:02pm as in “seems like …”, “appears to be like…” are perceived to be less ‘direct’.

- “I said that his visit to Hiroshima was ‘out of touch’ with the wishes of the Japanese people….Bach pushes for the 'Games' to go ahead ‘no matter what’, so he and his ilk can ‘cash in’, and completely disregard the wishes of the Japanese people?” -

A logical assumption and question based upon the facts given in these news stories of late. The intention of the word “greedy’ can be easily understood on it’s own when referring to Mr. Bach’s insistence to continue with the Games “At Any Cost”. An additional note: Less sensitive than the word “pig” is the classification of “swine”, which are raised to produced delicious pork belly, an essential element of the famous Hiroshima Okonomiyaki. Let’s hope he enjoys some local cuisine while this may be his last trip to Japan for some time.

A noble gesture, a reminder to the world of the horrors of warfare, and how we must ever be vigilant in our mutually beneficial endeavor for world peace.

Would be funny if someone were to have an altercation with him while he's there - then press charges with faked injuries. Cops are really strict when it comes to injuries sustained in physical confrontation. Could make him miss the games!

If anyone ever comes across these olympic officials make sure they get the pleasure of being made to feel uncomfortable and stuff P L E A SE on behalf of the whole nation of Japan

bach & coates are the most HATED people in Japan by far right now, bach should not even come & that twit coates should be deported for the havoc they are heaping on these isles ...... and they want to pretend they care......

If they did they would have canceled this fiasco!

Ever since the Olympics were decided to be held during the summer, it seemed to me that it would be inevitable that the bombings would somehow be woven into the sporting event.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Unless Hiroshima is an olympics site, Bach has no business parading around there. Looks like an empy PR stunt.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Not the right time for this Bach.

There's a reason they chose to end the Games on the anniversary of the Nagasaki bombing, you know. And I think you also know they are going to turn the closing ceremonies into rewritten history lesson and ask everyone to bow their heads for the victims of the war (meaning those who died in the bombings).

I can visualise it, but they will more likely be asked to bow their heads and express regret that the IOC’s profits from broadcasting were deemed insufficient.

DO NOT COME, YOU ARE NOT welcomed sir.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

The majority of Japan does not welcome you or your Olympics!

Who does he think he is?

Stay out Bach! Go and run this rubbish superspreader event in your own home.

The “Bach & Coates” 2021 Japan Tour!

“I Can’t Go for That” … no can do.*

Aka “*Roadshow!**”. Hopefully*, “*The Final!**” *to use Japan’s preferred appellations.

Why not visit Okinawa, or Tokyo? There were more victims of Japan's war there than in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

*Just Say “NO**!” - *There has *NOT been ANY benefit to those areas by the “TOKYO” Olympics**.*

The governors & mayors of these areas should publicly & politely DECLINE his visits. -

A plan for IOC Vice President John Coates to visit Nagasaki on the same day is also being considered, the sources said.

A visit to the two cities in a single day would be a tight schedule. Use aircraft? He may not know the geography.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

He envisions himself as *Gandhi, perhaps? *Delusional!

- “IOC leaders are likely to call for promoting peace, a pillar of the Olympic movement,” -

4 ( +5 / -1 )

So now he wants to sightsee? This man is tone deaf.

Could be, or could be that he is punishing Japan because public opinion dares to oppose him and bruise his ego. “I will come to your county and do as I please. You will not protest”.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

In Japanese media there is a story about him insisting on staying in a hotel with a palatial suite for the duration of the Games. It’s just sickening what these people do when so many others are suffering

14 ( +15 / -1 )

How about he go and visit some hospitals. Check out the ICU.

24 ( +25 / -1 )

Shouldn't he be visiting Tohoku?

27 ( +27 / -0 )

You have to love the optics. A man whose greed and ambition make it considerably likely that more Japanese will be infected - and some may die - going to Hiroshima. It’s like he’s just rubbing it in now.
