They have to think of new ways to use them then. It is amazing how simple people are and how easily people effected by events... Never connected Olympics to screwing!!!

I don't get how they are raising this as an issue..

This issue feels like a distraction to grab the headlines. I’m sure people would be prepared when they travel.

Now they are allowing alcohol into the village, it could be party time. So hopefully they will rethink and make condoms available.

I knew someone who competed in the Olympics, the stories they came back with……..

Ten out of ten for the headline. Well played!

The distributed condoms are not meant to be used at the Olympic Village," the organizing committee told AFP.

Instead they are supposed to be "brought back by athletes to their respective home countries and to help them support the campaign to raise awareness", they added.

Yeah, right.

The IOC has become a parody of its own self. The Olympics have gone off the deep end.

Take the condoms home and show mom and dad what you got for them from the Olympics. Maybe you should put the condoms in your wallet for added aesthetic effect.

I think the joy of the Olympic (if any) climaxed years ago.

One of the cleverest headlines this year!

Condom, condom makers, condom distribution, condom not-for-sale..

Has condom become synonymous with Tokyo Olympics?

Has condom become synonymous with Tokyo Olympics?

Well, we’ve been conned by the government who are in turn being dominated by the IOC…

Indeed–although not, perhaps, too hard to come by.

I don't get how they are raising this as an issue..

Something not to be raised,

Definitely.

"brought back by athletes to their respective home countries and to help them support the campaign to raise awareness"

raise awareness of...? condoms were introduced in the 1850s and people have surely been acutely aware of hiv/aids for at least 40 years... awareness of something else...?

I have this surreal image of teams flying home after the games, being swarmed by the press at the airport... Athletes discarding medals and instead posing for photos with the all-singing 0.01mm models to raise awareness of what is soon to be available at your nearest reputable importer at a modest price.

Did every industry in Japan genuinely believe that the Olympics would drag them out of a 30 year recession?

Japanese condom makers getting stiffed by the organizing committee.

Nice pun JT.

Perhaps adding a special dye that turns them gold, silver and bronze, depending on performance, might raise sales.

The title of this article doesn't make any sense .. condom to climax? good sex is enough .. with or without the rubber. IOC said Alcohol ok but no condoms .. doesn't qualify for the final sex during the stay? Another contradiction, keep the condom away and bring back to the home country for the HIV awareness ... but No SEX please.
