Congratulations! to Jun Mizutani and Mima Ito . As someone said with Shohei Ono’s 2nd Gold: The people of …

- “…Japan need that morale boost, as things haven't been going her way for some time in general.” -

Chinese players dropped the ball big time…lol !

I seriously did not expect Japan to be at the top with 8 gold! I am really happy for these athletes. They really gave it all they got.

Let's keep the it rolling. Is too late to stop the olympic anyway so might as well cheer for them and have the athletes bring us some freaking much needed hope and positive energy to the nation.

China is very good at table tennis. The Japanese players must have worked very hard and done their best.

Tables turning!

Great victory

Sad for the athletes to celebrate without spectators

watched the last 4 sets - for sure the Chinese woman was the weak link - missed 6 or 7 pretty simple shots which proved the difference.

The weight of responsibility is clearly so heavy for the local athletes to perform for their country, which is normal for any world games, then magnify with the extraordinary pressures of the healthcare crisis and related issues.

Watching the emotional release of Uta Abe at the moment when she won gold in judo then to see the performance of Jun Mizutani and Mima Ito coming from behind to also win gold was truly amazing.

Ganbatte Japan!

I regret changing the channel last night after the lost the first 2 sets. I changed it to Japan basketball to watch them lose to Spain. Then changed to Japan handball to watch them lose to Sweden. I should have been watching this.

I guess those small practice rooms worked!

@NOMINATION

Basketball and handball are already a done deal for Japan.

Excellent match! The Japanese team really knows how to tease with a loss and then make an amazing come back!!

Congratulations Japan!

"Japan Upsets China"

So, what else is new?

Your "other" left! (Ito is on the right!)

Quite right. Thank for pointing out the error.

Again, congratulate Japan on the historic win. This is perhaps a century's miracle.

On retrospect, Jun Mizutani and Mima Ito should have lighted the Olympic torch, the world is watching them.

Its sort of like the US beating Canada at men's ice hockey

Basketball and handball are already a done deal for Japan.

I won't say that especially in basketball with two NBA players and the US overpaid NBA

prima donnas looking more like pushovers Japan stands a good chance of winning a medal.

The highlights of the basketball match with Spain was the worst highlight in my more than 50yrs

on earth. The highlight was about 3mins long and never once did they show the winner spain score

even one basket. The only time spain was shown trying to score was the buzzer beating throw from center of the court that obviously didn't enter the basket. If one didn't watch the match and only tuned into the highligts and didn't look at the scores, one would think Japan rolled over Spain beat them mercilessly. I don't know what message the broadcaster was trying to relay to viewers with such one-sided highlight. Just too petty.

Nice! Keep it rolling Japan!

So, Awesome. I am not a fan of this sport. But I am happy for Japan.

Compact game for a compact country. I love. Gold man! Just great Japan!
