ADHD's most affective treatment are stimulants such as Adderall, Vyvanse, etc. God forbid a handful of people ask that they be allowed to take their prescribed medication, legal in most countries, to an international event.

For medical treatment, or hidden doping ?

Interesting how they can prepare to pass legislation for something related to the Olympics so quickly but to enact a law that helps reduce Covid cases such as fining bars/restaurants that stay open past a mandated time during a SOE took about a year....

They've already said it numerous times. they will do whatever they have to to hold Covid 2020 (in 21), there is no bar too low for the officials to crawl under; no cost to the taxpayer too high; no public health emergency too dire.

But then after the Olympics are over they will return in their xenophobia.

So, you can't bring them in for what could be a life-or-death situation in terms of the need for some control, but hey, for the Olympics, anything goes! Once again, Japanese priorities.

I must admit it looks a tad hypocritical. If they used the opportunity to change things and liberalise things generally would be better.

not sure why Vyvanse is even banned, being a pro-drug and all...

meanwhile, everyday some 80-yr old geezer of a doc is handing out stilnox, roofies and other benzos to anyone who says they have trouble getting some shut-eye....

These are real things and issues as ridiculous as it may seem.

In Thailand with my younger sister we realized that her prescribed meds that she brought from France were highly illegal in Thailand and actually in a higher catagory of crime than even some drugs!

I was shocked, and she realised she was lucky that the customs agents didnt see it.

It would seem very unfair to enforce that though.

The restricted import of drugs that all people must follow should also apply to the incoming athletes.

Prescription medications should be permitted in all cases.

Japan can at times be extremely archaic in it's attitude.

I have ADHD, though I do not take meds as most have had side effects worse than my ADHD.

But that is me, my niece has ADD, and prior to diagnosis she had serious problems in school focusing on studies.

Now she has been accepted into the top University back home in engineering.

I personally know what her future would have been like had she not had these medications.

But under Japan's ridiculous system she cannot even visited here because to do so she would have to stop taking her medication.

No I understand that Japan is worried about drugs being brought in for illegal purposes but any fool can tell the difference between a week or two daily use and am amount destined to be sold illegally.

But I don't expect logic from the Japanese government and we can clearly see that by the simple facts of how they are handling Covid-19 and still going on about having the Olympics.

I thought these were banned by IOC anyway. In any case, Adderall should be allowed vs. current penalty of jail time.

Ritalin is already OK and Vyvanse too I think.

So stimulants will be legalised ? For some and not others? This is more BS.

The use of the word stimulants is fairly prejudice and misleading.

Anyone that knows basic facts regarding ADD, & ADHD would know that these medications do not act as stimulants on those with these disorders.

On the contrary in many cases these medications can make us drooling low energy zombies.

As was my case with nearly all of the ones tried on me.

And that is the point, though not the drooling zombie but being able to sit, concentrate in a more focused way.

I am well into my 50s cannot use any of these in my case, so I sleep 4 hours a night and am on basically on high speed from the second I wake up until I go to bed, I bounce from one project to the other and back again all day.

This is fine in my case because of my type of work.

But for most this is not a sustainable life style.

So all the crude uneducated comments shows the ignorance and why ADD, ADHD, and others are called the invisible disabilities and why we face so much discrimination.
