Having thought overnight Shaun Bailey is right.

London should host London Olympics 2020. Not all events obviously but why not?

I would like to ask if we can do the marathon as prefer watching free events. In short time we better do something about the air quality prompt by banning all cars from London for when you do your policy.

Rest of the world cities leaders should follow Mr Bailey's generous proposal to people of Tokyo, Japan.

From the list of cities put forward, IOC needs assess with emphasis on Environmental concerns

to appoint host cities and NOC.

Infrastructure and hotels are already there and it should even out the air traffic by hosting in different location ..

Surfers can check wave forecast nearer to the time and head off to best location for waves.

Game on :)

When there is a problem, the rational solution is to send them again to the last. So it is Rio de Janero. The infrastructure are still all set and new. Beijin is interesting because it is in Asia. South Corea is nicer because the weather is closer.

But i think, the game would be reported at a later time, because game without chinese visitors and moneys is not really wise.

Oh for heaven's sake, why is everyone getting so worked up about this - or even paying it any attention?

Everyone knows Bailey is just trying to get a bit of publicity for his campaign. This wasn't a serious suggestion.

The summer heat will kill the virus. That’s why Southern Hemisphere has so few cases. No worries, Olympics will happen in Tokyo.

An idiot comment from a politician. Hardly worth reporting.

Seriously doubt the infrastructure is still in place and the organisation in such short time would be near on impossible. Strongly recommend posters don’t give them selves apoplexy over it, no one is trying to steal your Olympics. Having said that a delay might be in order and would benefit the athletes and spectators to boot.

Tinawatanabe, wrong they are.

Apparently, you have to be a certified idiot to run for mayor of London these days. Is that a requirement or just the way things are?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

What are you talking about? I was agreeing with you. Sheesh

Sorry, I misinterpreted!

No problem bro

London can always dream...

Tokyo will host the Olympics for sure.

and by that time (end of May) vaccinations will be ready.

Japan has prepared a lot for this. moving it to London will just cause another virus.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

now that,s a joke folks ... and some people here talking about canceling the Olympics and comparing WW2 with this virus... that,s a joke too ...

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Will I be able to use my tickets for the same events in London?

You got jokes now?

What are you talking about? I was agreeing with you. Sheesh

Sydney pulled the **** move when Greece was financially struggling.

Iit's either London or no Olympics this year so Japanese might as well get used to the idea of London Olympics

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The guy was not involved in 2012 Olympics obviously. I suppose news agency in Japan must report what an idiot Shaun Bailey is...

i could be wrong as may be London has emergency cash hidden somewhere or possibly Mr Bailey is so well connected he can pull strings faster than anything

Someone should hit him up for the logistics for this. If he somehow comes up with a workable plan, we can then use it to scrutinize how Tokyo is doing it and question all of the cost overruns we are just supposed to accept as inevitable.

The UK hosting the Games at very short notice, now with no new immigrants earning less than 25 grand, is absolute pie in the sky. I'm 51 and the deterioration in UK politics in my lifetime has been shocking.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I hope it does get canceled. This virus ain't going away anytime soon.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Desperate times call for desperate tories.

Seriously, I have no doubt that London could host another Olympics (they did a great job in 2012) but not now. Not in so short a time frame to set it up.

Besides, these are our Games and I'm sure Tokyo will rise to the occasion.

In Japan, hundreds have been infected by the virus with two deaths confirmed on the Diamond Princess cruise ship off Yokohama port

As the Diamond Princess is a British ship, the hundreds infected are not counted as Japan's.

Having dumped the EU, and the Commonwealth before that, the U.K. is now looking for friends!

The London mayoral election is due to take place on May 7, and Bailey is trailing in opinion polls behind the incumbent, Sadiq Khan, from the opposition Labour Party.

I think we get some idea why.

what cracaphat said

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

It's not the first idiotic thing Bailey's said.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Yes please London. Take them. Waste of my taxes.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

What an absurd, preposterous proposal to make.

Identical risks to public health would remain, however relocated to London instead of Tokyo.

Bonkers baloney, mixed with rank stupidity from Mr Bailey.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

At this moment of virus crisis spreading around, Shaun Bailey could have used his common sense and expressed London's interest to aid Japan to deal with the current crisis. That's how you build good will around the global nations. Instead, the proposal to host Olympics is typically insulting to Japan. This was certainly not required at this moment.

Knew it'd be a Tory as soon as I saw the headline....

7 ( +9 / -2 )

He seems to forget that most of the facilities built for 2012 aren't there any more.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Skip 2020, do it next year way to risky in any country.

2 ( +8 / -6 )

Wouldn't that be a huge poke in the eye to Japan if the games were actually moved to London? Unfortunately, with only a few short months to go they are going to have to consider such a thing until this virus is under control.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

What a **** move. Someone's politically not doing well, I suspect.
