Like may things, this issue should have been more appropriately addressed well-before awarding the Games to Japan.

So, should we be hoping for ‘wave upon wave’ just before the Games start? Will that benefit any of the athletes?

I've never seen a nice beach in Japan and have been on this earth 72 years. Oh ok, maybe in Okinawa!

They are few and far between I'm afraid due to being ruined by the insane amounts of concrete Japan pours around them.

Katoku Beach is one of the last surviving unspoilt beaches in Japan, although plans are being made to destroy it too. Read all about it and Japan's mindless addiction to ruining beaches here.

Inconsistent ‘conditions’ would not be beneficial for the seaside competitors and may quickly spread to precipitate other disastrous events for the other types of outdoor athletes.

.....my above post may appear 'off-topic', but it is relevant. Concrete sea walls, blocking river courses, tetrapods etc cause beach sandbanks to disappear, and sandbanks are essential for the breaking waves that surfers need to hang ten and get radical dude, etc.

I don't speak yoof as well as I used to.
