Just cancel the damn thing.

There was no plan B to the current postponement but of course circumstances gave them no choice. The same will apply to next year as Japan and the world will not be able to hold it next year. In the end you can't have an Olympics just because you say so if no one can come.
It would be a far better idea to reallocate the millions being spent on this towards the hospitals in Tokyo which by their own admissions are not prepared, already approaching capacity and running out of equipment. And this is the early stage and it is just about to get really serious.

Cancel it now. The dream is over.

At this rate, they'll be lucky to have it next year.

If it can't be held next year, it is cancelled. That is the plan.

I calculate the real cost of the postponement at between 150 to 250 million Usd but the extra year also brings extra revenue. The inflated extra cost serve only the many profiteers. I work in the business and for the life of me, can not find a reason for those ridiculous cost estimates. And so far no one has told me the breakdown for them and no journalist has asked.
