Japanese citizens living abroad are expected to be allowed to volunteer, according to the official

This is a good idea, because if they do this the Gov't can not blame the ULTIMATE virus breakout on foreigners.

What if the volunteers provide proof of vaccination?

The organizing committee's CEO Toshiro Muto, however, said it will consider allowing in foreign-based volunteers with skills necessary for the smooth running of the games under special entry rules.

Right, open admission that there are "foreign-volunteers" that are better at running things than anyone here in Japan!

Maybe they should exchange the entire JOC?

What if the volunteers provide proof of vaccination?

Just being vaccinated doesn’t stop you from spreading, especially new, more virulent and deadly variants.

The use of the words “most of” suggests there is a loophole and infection will enter these islands.

"This is a good idea, because if they do this the Gov't can not blame the ULTIMATE virus breakout on foreigners."

I guess you have not heard the Covid 19 is already in Japan.

Japanese citizens living abroad are expected to be allowed to volunteer

Give me a minute while I allow that to sink in....

and think about the words...

Japanese citizens....

who have the right to.......

come back to........

Japan.

Foreigners....

don't have the right....

to come to....

Japan.

The organizing committee of this summer's Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics said Monday it will not accept volunteers from overseas in principle as a precaution to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

More than one year without proper measures in place to curb infections.

But when we start talking about allowing gaijins inside the “superior” Japan...

"Japanese citizens living abroad are expected to be allowed to volunteer, according to the officials."

Someone explain the logic behind that statement!

Surely it's been misinterpreted?

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Japanese citizens living abroad are expected to be allowed to volunteer, according to the officials.

If true, another shameful move from Japan against foreigners.

Just being vaccinated doesn’t stop you from spreading, especially new, more virulent and deadly variants.

BS, provide scientific data to back that up because it makes no sense.

egads man:

What if the volunteers provide proof of vaccination?

Well, then that means all the volunteers will be foreigners. There won't be any Japanese volunteers.

daito hak:

Japanese citizens living abroad are expected to be allowed to volunteer, according to the officials.

If true, another shameful move from Japan against foreigners.

You have to remember. The Japanese body is more resistant to the virus.

@daito

On 5 second internet search found this...

The risks of SARS-CoV-2 infection in fully vaccinated people cannot be completely eliminated as long as there is continued community transmission of the virus. Vaccinated people could potentially still get COVID-19 and spread it to others.Mar 8, 2021

Theres a translation issue, most foreign pertains to foreigners who live outside of Japan which was about 30% of the 8000 volunteera. 70% of the foreign volunteers in Japan are not affected.

As for Japanese citizens abroad they are Japaanese, not much immigration can do to block rerentry, the issue is mainly non Japanese people living outside of Japan entering as Temporary visitors like regular tourists, special regulations would have to be passed.

No problem, soon they will have to take also themselves out of participation allowances. lol

"Most foreign Olympic volunteers will not be allowed due to COVID-19"

vs

"Japanese citizens living abroad are expected to be allowed to volunteer, according to the officials."

Yeah, because Japanese citizens can't get infected and can't bring the infection here. Only foreigners can.

This makes little to no sense.

Both can get infected and bring it here.

@HimariYamada

Foreigners....

don't have the right....

to come to....

Japan.

True!

Japanese citizens....

who have the right to.......

come back to........

Japan.

Also, true

Japanese citizens living abroad are expected to be allowed to volunteer, according to the officials.

What about the quarantine?

What is the logic behind letting Japanese people living abroad who are statistically more likely to be infected than residents interact with other Japanese and Foreign athletes, officials, and spectators.

This illogical thinking is why the Japan's handling of the pandemic mostly consists of fudging numbers and indecisiveness.

This is not an Olympics. It is a sporting event with international participants which is being held in Japan for Japanese spectators.
