WHO leader says virus risk inevitable at Tokyo Olympics

If only he had of done his job properly at the outset of this virus instead of taking bribes and handing out disinformation.

Another disgusting creature maqurading as a human being, much like the ones he is rubbing shoulders with and sharing hotels with right now in Tokyo

The Tokyo Olympics should not be judged by the tally of COVID-19 cases that arise because eliminating risk is impossible, the head of the World Health Organization told sports officials Wednesday as events began in Japan. From the guy who sold out the world is now giving advice. Perhaps he knows more than what he was paid for by the CCP not to disclose. "The Tokyo Olympics should not be judged by the tally of COVID-19 cases that arise because eliminating risk is impossible, NO SHIAT!! WHO= Watching Hell Over

Could this be any more ridiculous?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Almost forgot WHO he was.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Tedros is a lying Chinese puppet.

Be gone with your lies!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

A corrupt freeloader on a jolly paid for by others is telling us the pandemic he is part responsible for helping to spread shouldn’t get in the way of his jolly.

Absolutely we should regard his comments with the gravity they deserve!

A risk is a risk but in today's political climate some try to make it sound like the end of the world despite extremely low percentage of covid deaths.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

That's great and all, but I wish this was done outside the village, in Japan, where the rest of us live. Track and trace seems to be non-existent. In some places, like HK, if someone tests positive, everyone in the same building and those who have been to the same places visited by that person have to go through compulsory testing. In other places, testing centres pop up everywhere for anyone.

Are you aware, testing is a resource and as all resources cannot be wasted.

That is what advocates against testing here on this site and even some experts appearing

on TV told us. What they meant was that it was a waste testing plebs.

Aah, yes the word inevitable. Similar to when you deferred to China instead of shutting down all international travel during the lunar new year in 2020. It was inevitable that the virus would spread. Now please get off the international stage and let someone with competence take the helm.

Billions of dollars in aid have been plowed into the poorest countries without any evidence of improvement or betterment of their people. Can you name a success example?

Yes, China, Singapore, Malaysia and many others.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

It was a “horrifying injustice,” he said, that 75% of the vaccine shots delivered globally so far were in only 10 countries.

No, Mr. Fake doctor, it is not an injustice. Developed countries provided the funds, the scientists and the knowledge to the development of the vaccine. It's only fair they take care of their own first. Why does the first world always have to bail out poorer countries? I'm of the idea that all aid should be cut to developing nations, all aid be it money, food or in this case medicine end up in the hands of the corrupt elite of such countries.

What a joke! Tedros waking up late and making useless comments about the Olympic circus. He is controlled by China and the pandemic was caused by the WHO. This man is incompetent and shameless. Please have the decency to resign.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

WHO says virus risk inevitable...then why are we having these games!!! Japan is already facing an uphill battle with the vast majority of citizens and residents being unvaccinated and a shortage of vaccines, so why make it more challenging?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

We need a sarcasm emoji on JT.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Not a big fan of Tedros and his bowing over to China. And, it’s a bit late to start advising on the safety protocols of the Olympics.

But, I appreciate him stating the obvious, which media and web commentators seem to be overlooking – any large enough group of people is going to have COVID cases.

He doesn’t think the Olympics associated COVID cases are cause for panic.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

WHAT!?! Why didn’t they warn ‘someone’ in advance?

(The IOCLDPJOC will now have to feign shock.)

3 ( +4 / -1 )

“The mark of success is making sure that any cases are identified, isolated, traced and cared for as quickly as possible and onward transmission is interrupted,” he said.

The leader and his party that did not respect the will of the people will be punished.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Good to see everyone is staying home and following government advice not to travel.

I will definitely not be canceling my summer vacation.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Now?? You announce this NOW?? Just DAYS before the games, you imbecile!!

My father worked his whole life in the WHO. He must be turning over in his grave at the leadership of this Jackass.

Although back in the 1990s he did say that after WHO director general Halfdan T. Mahler retired and Hiroshi Nakajima became the next WHO DG, the org was never the same and was going downhill.

Good thing he's not seeing it today under the leadership of this idiot.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

The WHO are a blow hard organization that know nothing of the situation in Japan. They have already done enough damage to the world by their lies and deceit regarding this pandemic. Please go away WHO, the people have busted you.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

He's right tho

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

“The pandemic is a test and the world is failing,” Tedros said, predicting more than 100,000 deaths from COVID-19 worldwide before the Olympic flame goes out in Tokyo on Aug. 8.

between now and then? Cos it’s killed 4 million globally now…

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Of course he would say that.

man the problem with humanity is that we cant seem to stop continuing the status-quo even during a pandemic.

i dont know you but, i would i take it as a sign to change the direction that humanity is taking.

wether it was made in a lab or not, mother nature is trying to tell us something.

and that something is to freaking stop destroying the world

nature controls populations with viruses.

sad but true

Many Japanese do not want us to continue with the Tokyo Olympics Games, but at least 80% of these athletes have been vaccinated 2 times, when only around 30% of all of Japan has been vaccinated twice.

Mr.Suga dropped the ball big time! The USA etc, offered to sell vaccines to Japan last year!!! The J Gov5. Sat on its chopsticks and now we're all paying the price!!!

The DELTA VARIANT is spreading out of control here in Tokyo and other major JAPANESE cities and they will NOT be able to blame the OLYMPIC ATHELETES, who are being given PCR tests 3 times a day!!!

Yes some will try to blame 1 Ugandan guy who escaped in Osaka or Nagoya???

He has already been captured but let's see the JTV try to blame the DELTA OUTBREAK on 1 African dude and not on thousands if not hundreds of thousands of young, horny and drunk Japanese kids and others wasted all night in Shibuya etc...

Tedros Adhanom Ghegreyesus praised China back in March 2020 in a tweet:

For the first time, #China has reported no domestic #COVID19 cases yesterday. This is an amazing achievement, which gives us all reassurance that the #coronavirus can be beaten.

Tedros Adhantam Ghegreyesus says now:

The Tokyo Olympics should not be judged by the tally of COVID-19 cases that arise because eliminating risk is impossible, the head of the World Health Organization told sports officials Wednesday as events began in Japan.

This guy is just blowing hot air. He’s not even a medical doctor.

16 ( +16 / -0 )

I am not fanatically against the Tokyo Olympics, but the article fails to point out that Ghebreyesus will say whatever his CCP masters tell him to say. The connections of this guy to the CCP are well documented. In this case, Ghebreyesus aka the CCP opinion is looking at the Olympics in Beijing next year, for which criticism is taboo.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

How callus can these evil people be? How many people have lose their livelihoods and or had their lives altered in some other way due to the shutdowns because of the very “risks” we are now being told are unavoidable?

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Proverbs 17:16

It does a fool no good to spend money on an education,

Why?

Because he has no common sense.

Tedros, Bach, Boris Johnson, Mr. Suga…… Need I say more???

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I wonder if he has any comment about this as it is absolutely relevant to what he is saying.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/tokyo-insanely-deploying-army-half-161830291.html

They are actually telling people to not take the 2nd shot because they may miss working due to potential side effects.

In June, Tokyo quietly sent out a missive asking workers to delay their second shot until after the Olympics. Why keep volunteers from getting fully vaccinated? Because “doses received during the Games, and potential fevers caused by side effects to the second dosage could hinder operations supporting the Olympics,” read an email from The Bureau of Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 Preparation, sent to the inboxes of Tokyo 2020 staff members last month.

Tedros: What do you think about this? Is it "vaccine inequity" for Olympic workers? Is it an unnecessary risk making this request?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

AbhimishToday  01:41 pm JST

Not sure when was the last time he announced something positive

No worries. Tokyo will be announcing well over a thousand “positive” things this afternoon.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

This time I agree about vaccines sharing. While the vaccines are not fully licensed it doesn’t make sense to inoculate everyone, but rather make sure that the vulnerable 10% in each country can get protected first.

WHO leader says virus risk inevitable at Tokyo Olympics

If that is so, then as leader of WHO why are you traveling to Japan in this pandemic?

To tow the line for IOC/JOC? How many brown envelopes got passed in advance for him to make this statement? Was this statement also pre-approved by IOC as Japan Emperor opening statement must be pre-approved by IOC?

Lastly does only Olympics matters for these jokers Tedros and Bach? If it is important to "“The mark of success is making sure that any cases are identified, isolated, traced and cared for as quickly as possible and onward transmission is interrupted,” he said."

Then why is this not said about Japan/Tokyo normal residents like Taro and Keiko? Is he not aware that there is absolutely zero isolation/tracing happening in Japan for a looooong time now?

From his statement it is clear that only Olympic matters for these jokers and Japan and its residents are to be sacrificed for them to hold on their games and get their bank accounts filled to capacity.

Personally what is absolutely shocking and disgusting is that the Japanese govt has allowed few of these international folks to dictate terms to a nation and govt has absolutely lost interest to take care of its residents which by default is and should be their top most priority.... Sad state of affairs to say the least

9 ( +11 / -2 )

We've already beaten you to the punch ages ago, but you, nor Bach didn't listen. WHO is late?

9 ( +10 / -1 )

The WHO always experts at stating the obvious way way too late.

no pandemic till it was way past being one,

international travel should not be stopped, till it was way too late for this, the root cause of it spread to have gone on too long. ( eventhough China stopped those same travellers traveling in China it was ok to the rest of the world according to WHO)

and now the Olympics might have a problem just before they start, after their approval has been spruked by the IOC as a reason to hold them

7 ( +8 / -1 )

So Tedros who was negligent out the onset of this virus is now in Japan for the super spreader event ?

16 ( +18 / -2 )

Not sure when was the last time he announced something positive.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

wait wait wait.... were we not told there was ZERO risk? hmmmmm

18 ( +20 / -2 )

A wise man who has provided leadership and sound advice to the world during this natural disaster. Without him and the WHO the world would be far worse off as a result of this disease.

-12 ( +4 / -16 )

That doesn’t fit at all. He also knows or has at least an imagination of how severe that pandemic is and what that will soon develop into, but at the same time supports that damned super spreading event of his Chinese, communist and IOC mafia cronies.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Thanks to him bowing under the pressure from China at the beginning of the pandemic, we are now in this situation. I still remember he adamantly stated that the virus could not transmit between human and argued against border closure against travel from China. He is useless and a crook.

30 ( +34 / -4 )

It was a “horrifying injustice,” he said, that 75% of the vaccine shots delivered globally so far were in only 10 countries

Maybe the 10 countries went to work developing vaccines and methods of combating the virus instead of continuing business as usual with dictators and corrupt governments in charge. The world is not a welfare state and sometimes perceived kindness only enables continued misery and poverty. Billions of dollars in aid have been plowed into the poorest countries without any evidence of improvement or betterment of their people. Can you name a success example?

10 ( +17 / -7 )

Japan is not giving courage to the world.

The world is looking at Japan in amazement, at how stupid it is to host such a massive event after failing to vaccinate the population.

32 ( +39 / -7 )

The Tokyo Olympics should not be judged by the tally of COVID-19 cases that arise because eliminating risk is impossible, the head of the World Health Organization told sports officials Wednesday as events began in Japan.

How infections are handled is what matters most, WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a speech to an International Olympic Committee meeting.

“The mark of success is making sure that any cases are identified, isolated, traced and cared for as quickly as possible and onward transmission is interrupted,” he said.

Yes it should be judged by the tally of COVID-19 cases. He is correct about the fact eliminating risk is impossible and he certainly disagrees with the lie of Bach that there is "no risk". (Even he cannot support Bach's lying).

Significant risk reduction can be achieved by delaying the games until conditions are better and more people are vaccinated. The holding of the games is an unnecessary risk.

@Burning Bush - you are right - if they can hold the Olympic games you can certainly go out and take a walk in the park and if authorities say you cannot do so I would certainly think you should refer them to the fact the Olympic games are being held.

“The pandemic is a test and the world is failing,” Tedros said, predicting more than 100,000 deaths from COVID-19 worldwide before the Olympic flame goes out in Tokyo on Aug. 8.

So why carry on while the World is failing. This defies logic! Wait until the World is succeeding, hold the games then, and use them as one way to celebrate success. We are not at that level now.

22 ( +27 / -5 )

The WHO as usual to little to late!

As for his call (AKA complaint) about the vaccine.

Well who is going to pay for and produce the Vaccines?

Oh right the developed countries!

So yes get those places vaccinated first, get their economies back on track so as usual they can finance things for those other places.
