Apparently there is still a lot of resistance among some athletes to get vaccinated. In the US, there is still a big divide between those that want the vaccine and those who don't want it. But this is what democracy is. You cannot force someone to get vaccinated against their will.

This is why there is a protocol to daily test them and send them to the hotel if the result is positive. The athletes who didn't get vaccinated had accepted this condition when they came to Japan to take part of the Olympic.

I think the problem with getting the vaccine too close to the competition limits the day you can train (twice per shot, arm pain, and risk of doing heavy exercise) and leading up to the competition, you need all days to be well conditioned.

Yes, of course, there’s no knowledge yet, about how the vaccines correspond with all their tons of ingested other dangerous medications and dopings. Most of them already have their body chemically at the edge. So anything on top of that would be a hazard game with own life. And I am not, therefore could afford to do the vaccination challenge, also a gamble but with much smaller chips on the table.

When you put other's health in jeopardy, it is not a choice nor democracy.

To get vaccinated is also showing respect for others.

USA has had protocols for various diseases in the past for various groups to be vaccinated, not through choice.
