Go Istanbul. I don't believe these figures for a minute!

IOC members will select either Tokyo, Istanbul or Madrid as 2020 host in September 2013.

Ugh, just think about the roads that could've been fixed and jobs that could've been created if all the money spent on courting an Olympic bid would've been spent on something that actually benefited the city.

Did they really ask around 20 million people or the committee's neighborhood. Anyway I don't think foreigners would be too pleased about coming to Tokyo for the Olympics if you have to pay $10 for a tiny hotdog (extra if you want sauce and a bread roll) and $200 a night per person for a low class hotel. Imagine the public transport crushed as it is..

A poll by the IOC in May found that only 47% of Tokyo residents supported the bid. The latest poll comes after the London Olympics where Japanese athletes won 38 medals, the most in the nation’s history.

Yeah, because Japanese people like the flavour of the month. Ask them again now, and the numbers will drop back down.

Not that Tokyo may not them, but a sentence like that: "Tokyo’s 2020 Olympic bid committee says public support for hosting the games is increasing....", is an insult to everyone's intelligence
