Not sure what’s the biggest challenge: to make sponsors embark blindly in this adventure at this stage, or actually planning the event next year.

Still clinging on to the Olympic dream. The sponsors will go, Japanese taxpayers will make up the shortfall.

With countries around the world going in to second/third lockdown and numbers of infections/deaths rising, athletes not able to train/practice and they are still pushing these stupid Olympics that no one needs nor wants nor able to join/watch to save face after vote buying/bribing scandal that is yet fully unfold. This whole determination to host the Olympics is so pathetic. They are just out to screw the investors out of MORE money and any investor who puts any more money up for this is a moron. Japan's Olympic Committee is a disgrace!!!

The greed of Dentsu and the LOC2021 borders on the criminal. This should be a non issue for domestic sponsors but I must also specify that the IOC is not involved here.

A sponsorship is not a donation. Money or services are provided in exchange brand, logo and name exposure for the sponsor and that is already far more restricted at the Olympics than any other sport event.

in this case the LOC has NOT provided that contracted return to an important extend as the actual event has not happened. This entitles the sponsor to a, at least partly refund and asking for more money by an organisor for an event they themselves postponed is unread of, a scandal and completely unethical. Every domestic sponsor should refuse to pay one extra yen and demand full returns as contracted before the postponement. And I am very sorry to say that the consulted professors here do not know what they are talking about.

Furthermore the extra costs for the postponement are enormously exaggerated.

I wonder how the Japanese sponsors feel about the political statements about US politics that Canadian athletes are wanting to make.

The olympics is all about nationalism all the J-companies will remain on board in the name of nationalism even if it means taking a financial hit. No company here can go against the government else they will find doing business difficult.

Maybe the delays and expense caused by the CCP Virus fiasco along with all the cost overruns, graft, corruption and other problems will finally allow the next host to finally say enough is enough and reign the Olympics back to something more reasonable and affordable. Besides who wants to see all the political statements from the performers.
