Wow! Hard to believe a year has passed since those great times.
Barbara Holthus should be ashamed of her ridiculous comments regarding Bach-san.

year later, the costs and benefits remain as difficult to untangle as the Games were to pull off.
The benefits: To the LDP、affiliated cronies and the IOC.
The costs: Japanese taxpayers
Untangled it is.

Oh naughty Mr. Wade, you were here and must have noticed that several opinion polls found around 60% of people were against it early in 2021. 60% is hardly "some" now is it?
Fighto!
This embarrassment of an "Olympics" should never, ever have gone ahead.
Fighto!
Berlin 1936 was the worst, IMO.
Tokyo 2020 (sic) second on that list.

SUPER ABE SAN, might turn out to be a topper over his mask fiasco, there are so many to choose from. Thank god I have grandchildren who can pay for all this I certainly don’t have the life span to pay my share.

What is there left to untangle? The whole thing was an unmitigated disaster for Japan.
Now Sapporo wants to inflict even more of this idiotic damage on the country. They should be ashamed of themselves.

LOL, holtus. you can wear "Uniforms" in public any old time. Always another dirty beach. Free to clean.
Remind me not to sign up!
What you CAN sign me up for is…Nother round of (tax paid for it) premium sake, malts, oyesters, hand over fist tropical getaways and more stashes of cash from my pals.
Co workers riding you hard? Tell em to stuff it.
What oughta be pushing yer pulse is the dodgy Loot Pack laughing at you all out there, doing the beach cleaning the tax shoulda covered. But Yea, real nice uniforms.
So when the time comes, you find yourself finally asking how you got those unis so cheap,
just rememer theres a pal, of a looter and his family on some faraway sunny beach, relaxing right now, with a few mai tai and whole lotta free "time", all thanks to your extra "free uniform"
Sunny Days holtus!

I wouldn't say Tokyo was the worst, Beijing 2022 was by far and away the worst. Building the fake mountain for skying next to that lead smelter - massive fail larger than anything at Tokyo.

I fail to understand why after seeing how the Tokyo games ended up, Sapporo is like: “hold my beer…”.
I think it's one of the Japanese virtues. How to take the tax money and waste it in the most creative way.

It had the potential to be a great event for Tokyo (just as 2012 was for London).
However, as we all are aware, 2020 was dealt a blow by a global pandemic which has not been seen for 100 years.
If you were fortunate to have watched events in person such as the triathlon, cycling road races, sailing, mountain biking and even the velodrome cycling, then it was a privilege. If you watched on TV, you saw even more.
Considering the situation, Japan did what could be done. I only wish they had allowed more spectators at the venues (as they did at the baseball, sumo and J-League soccer that ran around the same time).
