Why isn't this public knowledge? Need to hide the bribes?

Transparency? More like obfuscation, which is typical of Olympic Games funding. I can only hope Tokyo doesn't go broke over this overblown spectacle.

A little late.

"We need to ensure transparency and gain understanding from the people," Olympic Minister Yoshitaka Sakurada said.

Comedy gold, Mr. Sakurada. There are two points to having the Games in Japan, as any fule kno:

1) Money

2) Nationalism

Taking as much public money as possible and transferring it into the hands of the construction industry is the whole point. What's this transparency nonsense?

7 ( +9 / -2 )

As transparent as looking through a cinder block in a dark room wearing a blindfold, think that's what he means. Taxes up, national debt up, all as transparent in an alternative universe that these muppets reside in.

Yeah, yeah. Fifth time to promise this, fifth time to point out how, "Oh! That is not Olympic spending," and, "Well, neither is that, technically."

So, the bill is already more than three times Abe’s pleadge to the IOC. Who would have guessed he was just lying to acquire the games? (Roll eyes)

Spending is good, whether by Governments or private. I think National government should spend more since they are the only organization in Japan that can make money by printing them.

Yeah, right...

So there wasn't before? And given all the Japan Inc scandals how likely is that? C'mon, who is he talking to that believes this?

Organizers immediately disputed the audit figures and said many costs were not for the Olympics. IOC President Thomas Bach said local accountants might calculate costs differently.

So what that actually means is:

Tokyo Olympic minister promises transparency on spending---(mixed with a little BS and fudging)

> Transparency from an LDP govt?

> Comedy gold.

Exactly? What Next? secularism declared in Saudi Arabia?

First class trips to Switzerland and the Bahamas, to check up on the transfers

Tokyo Olympic minister promises transparency on spending

Because the money has already been spent.

They are all "at it"

every country that have ever hosted a major sporting event....

A: vastly underestimates the costs. (purposely of course)

B: promises full public disclosure. (They kindo do. Once everybody who counts has been "well taken care of" $$$$  ;)

C: In most cases...let everything turn to ***** once the event is over.

I'll give Japan a pass on C

1.5 billion spent, now he promises transparency (going forward). Yes totally honest and not bs.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It’s only transparent until the numbers begin to look bad again and someone slips a few hush money bucks under the table.
