Joe Blow - Israel doesn’t have to round them up in concentration camps as basically West Bank and Gaza are not much more than penned in refugee camps - and if you agree with indiscriminate bombing, attacking media offices and buildings just because Israel say they know Hamas have offices there etc.. then you have no human compassion or empathy - a common trait amongst those who fall for US foreign policy/ propaganda ..

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Yes, I did, and I found the media's moral equivalence between Israeli aggression and Palestinian resistance to be just as unconvincing as the reports of Uighur genocide.

Joey has spoken (round of applause).

"The US government’s accusation of genocide against China stems from a single source: a June 2020 paper by Adrian Zenz, a right-wing German researcher."

https://thegrayzone.com/2021/02/18/us-media-reports-chinese-genocide-relied-on-fraudulent-far-right-researcher/

Completely convincing!

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Oooooohhhh......that’ll show ‘em. Politicians, who weren’t planning on going anyway, boycotting the Olympics.

Proving yet again that the CCP does not have to worry about being held accountable by Democrats.

Maybe you should give some thought to the possibility that the Uighur thing is nothing more than a smear campaign by the US Deep State.

But it's not just the US. Even Turkey is raising the issue now

"Turkey raises Uighur issue with China as hundreds protest"

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/3/25/turkey-says-conveyed-sensitivity-about-uighurs-to-china

"Turkey summons Chinese ambassador over response to Uighur claims"

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-turkey-china-diplomacy/turkey-summons-chinese-ambassador-over-response-to-uighur-claims-idUSKBN2BT259

Sure, Turkey is a reliable source of human rights guidance and information, as any Kurd or Armenian will testify.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Just another example of these permanent Washington types, and not the president who are the actual decision makers..

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Wow, already in such a despair? Boycotting a simple sports event because on economic or military fields isn’t anything to do or win anymore? That’s maybe a little overdone pessimistic interpretation, but we all know and have read a lot of analysis before that indicate how difficult it already has become to keep China and CCP in check. And China on the other side? It’s surely only itching, but not hurting. In other words, that proposal is stupid bs and doesn’t bring anybody an inch further.

"Maybe you should give some thought to the possibility that the Uighur thing is nothing more than a smear campaign by the US Deep State." Is that what the latest Q drop said, or did you figure it out all by yourself?

From what I understand, Q-anon is completely on board with the Uighur genocide delusion. But, I am sure you are more knowledgeable about these matters than I am.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

The US and other countries should boycott all Olympics even for just invading Iraq and murdering its citizens

"Let's not honor the Chinese government by having heads of state go to China." . . . Rep. Nancy Pelosi

She's absolutely right!

Agreed but it begs for consistency or do you put your moral integrity on hold when you sit in a Tokyo2020 seat knowing Japanese citizens die because healthcare is taken from them because of the Games

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I don't like Ms. Pelosi and am against most of her polices. Having said that, I respect her no-nonsense stance on this issue. Kudos, Ms. Pelosi.

China must be a truly awful place since the public approval rate of the CCP keeps rising and is well over 90%.

Oh, I didn't know that. BTW does that "public approval rate" include the Uhghurs in Xinjiang?

Maybe you should give some thought to the possibility that the Uighur thing is nothing more than a smear campaign by the US Deep State.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Israel isn't rounding them up in concentration camps

No, they're killing them in their own homes.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Correction !

"The US approved US$ 735 Million NOT Billion to Israel" That's 10% of its own military budget.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Boycott! For Hong Kong! For Uighurs! For Tibet!

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Pelosi is a complete idiot... but a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally and she is spot on here.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Wow, she speaks with such moral authority! And I'm sure she's going to hold a press conference any day now similarly condemning Israel's genocidal actions... right?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

So the US gets all righteous with concerns of human rights abuse in China yet cannot voice any words of condemnation towards Israel with regards to the atrocities being committed on the Palestinian people

Israel isn't rounding them up in concentration camps, their territory was ceded in 1917, if they want to fight a war for it like they have since 1967 then that's their choice. Hamas uses women and children as human shields, of course there are atrocities.

Well well, finally the neo-libs are good for something.

I wonder who Xi pissed off behind closed doors? Nevermind though, this is a positive turn of events.

Small brains big guns no conscience bad combination

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Go for it !!!!!!

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

So the US gets all righteous with concerns of human rights abuse in China yet cannot voice any words of condemnation towards Israel with regards to the atrocities being committed on the Palestinian people

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Strange how nobody boycotted Sochi in Russia where athletes and judges were cheating left, right and centre for years, gays were being rounded up and killed, human rights abuses were rampant. And that's just for starters. But no, let's go for the yellow peril instead, and stay silent on what's happening in Israel and Palestine. Where's the boycott against Qatar's World Cup? Migrant workers dying is a common occurrence. And don't get me started on slavery. And Tokyo - lying, corruption, criminal behaviour concerning the priorities of the games and the health of the people.

There may be legitimate reasons for arguing against the Beijing Olympics, but it's the blatant hypocrisy that I'm sick of.

11 ( +15 / -4 )

"criticizing China for human rights abuses and saying global leaders who attend would lose their moral authority."????

After vetoing UN condemnation of Israel's continued war crimes in Gaza the US can't talk about moral authority!

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Racism is OK against Chinese?

More than 50% of products in my house are from China. The only American products I own are Apple computers or Netflix.

it seems that neocons believe that China is scary. But they probably eat from plates made in China.

1 ( +11 / -10 )

Do you mean where the hosting government ignores the pleas of their people and continue to let them suffer through an event the people don't want in order to only enrich themselves?

If so, then please be more specific regarding which olympics to boycott.

J-government and IOC are getting nervous!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

If Japan's Olympics fall so will the Beijing Olympics!

I bet if trump was making this announcement, most of the naysayers would be on this article praising his name like their lord and savior!

Now let them boycott Israel, too!

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The US has just approved $ 735 B to a Superpower, Israel which is obliterating a defenceless people , Pakestinians, and they are calling for boycott of the winter olympics because of...? The world needs healing.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

But things will move if the US offers alternative venue for the 2022 Winter Games. Majority top athletes, Olympic officials as well as business sponsors care less about where it takes place.

Well, Aspen annually hosts the Winter X Games. I don't see how nor why it would not be possible to use Denver, Aspen and other places in Colorado as an alternative bid if we have to move Winter Olympics on a short notice. The State of Colorado as a whole is by far the best place one can ask of the United States to hold winter sports events.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Good

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Agree with her this once.

China is a danger and a bully to all.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

"I wonder what makes some U.S. politicians think they actually have the so-called 'moral authority'? "

Spot on.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

This lady is an idiot...... but she is not wrong on this. First intelligent thing she has said in five years.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Nancy will make the NBA go bankrupt if this happens lol

0 ( +6 / -6 )

Pelosi the Moral Barometer now , lol.

I do agree tho boycott china, but dislike this pelosi very much

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

HYPOCRISY at the highest level,

Instead of calling to boycott the China Olympics she should be calling on boycotting Israel and Hamas alike for killing and destroying the lives of innocent women and children. Pres. Biden and speaker Nancy are the ones who has lost their Moral Authority for allowing Israel to continue it's bombing the Besieged Gaza on their watch.

Can't wait till the next elections.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Pull out most of your productions from China and start making stuff in the US. Only then you can start talking about boycotting China. Otherwise, just shut up and stop being a hypocrite.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Every day, China grows stronger, the US crumbles a bit more, and China's enemies get more delusional.

1 ( +8 / -7 )

About time someone stood up to China. Human rights abuses, bullying other nations over territory, creating a global pandemic and the reaction of the world has been ‘let’s give you more business.’

We should all be boycotting Chinese companies and products until this evil government is overthrown by its people. Sitting on our hands and hoping China suddenly sees the error of her ways is never going to happen..

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

At least Nancy was in the forefront of protests against the Israeli army firing howitzer 109s into densely populated areas of Gaza last week. Oh wait...

15 ( +16 / -1 )

More people died or will die from Covid, where is the boycott?

1 ( +6 / -5 )

"I wonder what makes some U.S. politicians think they actually have the so-called 'moral authority'?

Nailed it…lol !

We killed Muslims in Afghanistan. We killed Muslims in Iraq. We killed Muslims in Iraq. But we are concerned about Muslims in Xinjiang. Where are the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?

There’s no need to persuade. If there is evidence the whole world will be on board.

9 ( +15 / -6 )

The timing is right to form a break away event.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

"I wonder what makes some U.S. politicians think they actually have the so-called 'moral authority'?

Nailed it…lol !

9 ( +12 / -3 )

stand up against Winnie the Pooh.

Winnie the Pooh is cute, loveable and innocent.

Dictator Xi is genocidal against millions, and far from cute and loveable. He is alongside Hitler, Stalin and Putin.

-6 ( +9 / -15 )

Good for the US, leading the way in the call to boycott the Genocide Games 2022.

Fingers crossed Japan will be next to boycott.

-4 ( +8 / -12 )

I don't know why this site doesn't allow us to provide links to other pages.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

I don't get the Winnie the Pooh reference.

After a photo of Obama and Xi walking together was published, Chinese netizens were quick to compare Xi’s portly figure with Obama’s slim, fit build.

Memes comparing the photo to Pooh and Tigger went viral on Weibo, and “Winnie the Pooh” became a code word for Xi when expressing criticism of the CCP on heavily censored Chinese SNS sites.

Winnie the Pooh imagery and merchandise has since been banned in China, and any mention of the tubby, little chubby, all stuffed with fluff, willy nilly silly old bear, is immediately deleted from SNS, and possibly warrants “re-education.”

Why China censors banned Winnie the Pooh - BBC News

6 ( +11 / -5 )

Good on her, but with a week leader in the White House, unlikely to happen.

Sorry guys, don't put your hopes up. Easier to just forget about it and live your life.

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

Yes! Yes! Yes! Boycott China and their Propaganda Olympics!!!

hear hear!

3 ( +12 / -9 )

Olympic boycotts work! The Western countries boycotted the 1980 Moscow Olympics, protesting the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan. The boycott gave Russia a terrible blow and helped bring down the communist regime.

-3 ( +10 / -13 )

Beijing will resist at all cost. But things will move if the US offers alternative venue for the 2022 Winter Games. Majority top athletes, Olympic officials as well as business sponsors care less about where it takes place.

2 ( +8 / -6 )

On human rights issues, they are in no position, either historically or currently, to make wanton groundless criticism against China,

Classic Communist whataboutism. Cancel the despot games.

7 ( +16 / -9 )

Xi-vil. Boycott if only for Xinjiang.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

China is where the money is. Does anyone think the Olympic sponsors give a darn about China’s human rights abuses? I seriously doubt it. The IOC doesn’t even care about the health of a nation so long as they can turn a profit.

27 ( +31 / -4 )

Oh my! Consider them cancelled. When this woman speaks, the Earth moves. I am not a fan of her, but this time she is right!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Boycott China and their Propaganda Olympics!!!

7 ( +19 / -12 )

@tom I don't get the Winnie the Pooh reference.

-14 ( +7 / -21 )

Boycott the genocide olympics!
