Two comments. 1. This is one of those situations in which it seems like nothing will ever change, and then it changes overnight. But it's because of years of pressure and effort. I think kinda like a Democratic political wave this November. 2. The last thing we need is a team name tied to the military. Way too much military cheerleading in our country, especially from the NFL.

New team: DC Justice Warriors.

Money actually. Fedex wh paid a lot of money for stadium rights, along with Nike and Pepsi said time for a change.

Them big sponsors' monetary pressure got to them and there was absolutely no altruism on Snyder's part. Even the business he set up to supposedly help Native Americans was only done to try to get people on the team's side in the name battle and did very little in the form of help. Good riddance.

As a person of Scandinavian descent, I've always been offended by the NFL team name the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings were white barbarians of the north who murdered, raped and pillaged wherever they happened to venture off to. Even though they were also famous for their fighting qualities. bravery and being masters of the sea, they were basically coldblooded raiders up to no good. So it's not just the Native Americans who have something to complain about here, but the northern Europeans as well.

DC Justice Warriors! Excellent!

I don’t think this is a good idea but it does trigger the right wing which is quite funny.

FedEx forced the change. They don't want every week being announced that the Washington [Racial Slurs] at FedEx Field are playing.
If Snyder had any integrity, he would have changed the name years ago. Instead, he feared for his wallet when FedEx threatened not to re-up the sponsorship.

Is it so hard to understand that in 2020 that's not a cool branding, it's a sports team not a must live or die decision. I absolutely applauded this decision, if the fans are not happy then support another team. Or wait for the new brand.

Hardly.
The Original Wing
Team ownership just announced that the DC Justice Warriors' preferred pronoun is "zhe." Referring to the team as "they" or "them" will lead to your season tickets being revoked and a public apology followed by sensitivity training being demanded.

The Original Wing,
Dont give them ideas!

Jimizo, btw, why dont you think its a good idea?

So, the Celtics, Knicks, 49ers, Cowboys, Indians, Oilers, Angels, are next?

How about the Notre Dame Fighting Irish logo? Are Irish people offended at being portrayed as short tempered drunken midgets?
ohara
BeerDeliveryGuy, its all good. All part of living in a “progressive” society. Utopia is just around the corner.

The other 10%, however, don't like being confused with Scottish people on vacation in Spain.

So 90% of native Americans are not exhibiting overt signs of mental illness.

The logo was designed by Walter Wetzel, a member of the Blackfeet tribe. He was instrumental in having the logo put on the helmets in place of the traditional R. The likeness is that of John White Calf, a Blackfeet Chief who also appears on the Buffalo Nickel. Wetzel’s son stated that the logo evokes a sense of pride.

If anything teams, streets, buildings, etc should have more native indian references so that people become aware of America's history and early settlers. If redskins is offensive then something relatable and unoffensive should be used.

How about just; The Washington Natives.? Cool name. Repects Native Americans and sounds tough.
