This is harsh and heavy treatment for a popular wrestler.

The choice of venue, allegedly a Kyabakura drinking establishment with young ladies at his side, was one error of judgment, but then denying it and getting caught in the lie was probably fatal.

I hope that having duly made an example, they will show magnificent generosity and eventually forgive him the larger part of his punishment.

I think, this might be a blessing in disguise for him. His career was stalling. Maybe he is not happy at his Beya or personally. He needs some extra lower body work, loose 20 kgs to 150 and work on chest and shoulder muscles.

BUT, if managed well he will be Yokozuno by 2024. And a strong one. There are clearly issues because he was struggling the past 18 months.

i an bring him there. He can call me

No Robert Maes, I don’t think you can and I doubt he will be calling you, even if you called him first to offer lol.

This is a very harsh punishment! Probably made so harsh since he denied it at first.

It’s a lesson in life when you are bought and paid for.

Make your fortune, and then you call your own shots.

Good. This guy clearly thinks he is above the rules, and deserves the punishment.

At 174kg and morbidly obese, catching covid would have far more serious risks than a young person at 74kg.

Well, i have managed over a hundred world champions and Olympic medallists and worked with 2 Yokozuno and 1 Oseki before.

i managed an F1 circuit and created a j league team.

so, i accept your challenge and scepticism and let’s see

nandakandamanda - This is harsh and heavy treatment for a popular wrestler

Anybody who breaks Covid restrictions should face hefty penalties regardless of their popularity. Except if you are a Japanese politician and above the law, of course.

Maybe he will live longer now. Sumo wrestlers are the fattest, unhealthy athletes in world and most die early because of heart issues and blood clots. He has a better chance of dying from morbid obesity than covid.

If this was the punishment for a wrestler I really want to see the punishment for the people responsible for all the chain of other problems that have plagued the sport in the last few years, abuse, lack of medical personnel on site for emergencies, sexism. etc. etc.

I mean, if they can be so strict with a wrestler then more important people should be held responsible with even more force, right?

It's possible Asanoyama didn't even want to go out drinking. It's very difficult for those easygoing big guys to refuse invitations from their free-spending support groups and sponsors, who are mostly influential businessmen from wrestlers' home towns.

When I think about Asanoyama, I remember Trump, who handed a trophy, President Cup, to him when he won the first title.

To lose a career for the sake of a beer!!

Rule No 1: Don't annoy somebody who can annoy you more!

Rule No 2: Comply with Rule No 1.

My apologies Robert, I clearly didn’t recognize the F1 circuit builder, Sumo Champ trainer, Olympic genius, and Master of a Centurion League of Champions that you are.
