Odd headline for a Japanese news site. Surely it should read, "Japan draws Scotland".

Norway in the 90s, Germany in the 00s, Sweden in the 10s - the US' bugaboo in each decade, no matter the rankings

Surprised Brazil has fallen so low in the rankings with the great Marta still playing for them. Then again, she is coming up in years for awhile. Amazed they haven't found anybody in their big playing population who could fill in her shoes

Also, Japan not in the 1st pot

Kentarogaijin: "Soccer women are more brave than the lousy crybaby soccer men.."

First, the comparative form of "brave" is "braver", not "more brave". More importantly, men and women's soccer are WORLDS apart. That is not saying one is better than the other, but saying comparison between the two is pointless. The Women's World Cup has been in play for less than 30 years, whereas the Men's has been in play for far longer. During that time, other countries have formed teams and joined, with the newer teams being less competitive because of inexperience and lack of resources; with the women all teams joined at once, more or less, and were already somewhat established. Ergo, the World Cup for women is a FAR more level playing field, with Japan winning one year, then the US the next, then a South American team the next, etc. You won't see Japan or other Asian teams, or African, come even remotely close to the top European and SA teams because they just are not as good. So, when the women here do well, but the men do not do well, it is not because the women are better or the men worse. It's just not comparable. And those who do so are foolish.
