well instead of giving more money to already wealthy athletes, how about reducing the cost of tickets for the fans to make them more affordable

Strange comments here. If the prize money is increasing, presumably that means income (ticket sales, TV broadcast contracts, merchandising, etc.) is also increasing. If income is increasing, then why shouldn't that extra money go to the talent who directly helped it increase? When a company does well, ideally the workers get raises.

Ridiculous !! What’s the point exactly of increasing the prize money ? Will any of the top players not compete because it’s not enough money !?

I’m sure the prestige & honour of winning a major is incentive enough.
