And you know what else...if one of the men's teams had done it, people would barely bat an eye.

It will be a great game, even my Brazilian boyfriend who never ice skate was thrilled with the USA vs Canada quarterfinal match and is anxious to see this true sport classic.

It'll be a tough game for both teams. I hope Luongo starts in net again. Sure he lets some soft ones in, but he makes big saves under pressure. The US has nothing to lose so they won't be playing with monkye's on their backs. Canadians needs to play relaxed and play off the adrenaline from the fans. GM Place will be rocking!

Seriously though, this going to be very, very big. If you're old enough you know what 1972 means in Canada, and what 1980 means in the US. If this is a close and dramatic game, maybe even if it isn't, it will be the same thing for one of the two countries. Welcome to history in the making kids.

In the medal standings Canada 21 total 10 gold, the U.S. 34 total 8 gold! Not bad for a country with about 10% of the U.S. population!

elbudamexicano, a quick check on Wikipedia would have shown you that Finland is the defending gold medalists from the 2006 Winter Olympics. What people need to realize is that the depth of international team hockey talent is quite deep. Depending on the year, gold could go to the Swedes, Fins, Russians, Americans or Canadians.

It's not over yet.... Although, Canada already got their Gold, against the women's team, it's time for the Men's team to beat Canada, one last time.... No win really counts, unless you win that Gold.

They sure are. Canada is the red team that will win silver, and USA is the blue team that will win gold. Finally the championship will be coming back to America, the home of hockey.

ElJeffeEnJapon: I don't know if I'd go so far as to say 'scared', but they definitely need to get their act together. They didn't fare so well against Slovakia in the end, so if they play like that and the US keeps up the way it's been playing, the latter will have the gold in the bag. Hopefully the Canucks can get past the US goalie this time (well, hopefully for Canadian fans, that is).

Anyway, should be a fun game, all told. Still like the classic Russia/Canada match up better, but this is for the gold so it will be pretty intense as long as the US doesn't score a bunch off the top.

The US smoked Canada in the prelims and now blew out the defending silver medalists. Canada should be scared. Shaking in their skates scared.
