This male-born athlete should never, ever have been allowed to compete against natural born women. Completely unfair advantage with male muscular-skeketal structure. Her shoulders are huge. It is akin to doping, but with a bigger advantage.

If this isn't sorted out now, girls will be leaving swimming and other sports in droves.

While I hope this does not turn into bashing of trans people, I agree with the decision. I think it is unfair that a person who up until a few years ago was considered a male, can then in a few short years compete as a female competitively. If they want to continue to swim and coach, I have no problem, but to compete directly with females is unfair. And as I have stated before, we never see this problem when there is a female transitioning to a male. Why? Because they just cannot compete physically with regular males.

Good lord, I am agreeing with Bronco and Fighto!

Forget testosterone levels. The "guy" is a guy, maybe missing some parts but still has most of the male sporting advantages. The women athletes need to be more vocal or soon they will be replaced by "trans" competitors.

The Penn swimming team support him. Of course they do; they aren’t competing against him, and he gives their team a huge advantage.

First you can not have a she listed in a male team. It has to be “he” or it make the male team illegal if they had a she listed in the male team. This is the correct English. So how to word trans people into English correctly? It is not just sport where the topic of trans people are having difficulties and I assume that wording any sentence where the subject matter is trans people into aganda classed sentences can be not be tolerated. Or the language word not be English but pigeon English. The only way to solve this problem is to invent and language so when male or female is mention you are referring to the same aganda. Or just ban trans people all together which will save a lot of hassle for the vast majority of the population.

I don't know about other sports, but I know about tennis. And as an example, Williams sisters, considered as the greatest female tennis in history, claimed they could beat any guy outside top 200. They were at their peak (1998 Australian Opne), and were destroyed at by a guy named Karsten Braasch, number 203 at that time. Karsten played a round of golf, drank two beers, then beat them 6-1 and 6-2, respectively.

I am not trying to be sexist or whatever, that's just the way it is.

Members of the Penn swimming team and diving team issued a statement supporting their transgender teammate.

Interesting, because an article that I found on a different website mentions that some of her teammates are uncomfortable with Thomas using the same locker room, as Thomas does not hide male genitals and is still attracted to females.

Women wanted equality, here comes a women who is stuck in a man's body dominating against other women in a sport, now all of a sudden women do not want equality and want women to be with women only so that they can still convince themselves that they are the dominant gender as portrayed in movies lately. Wokeness at it's finest!

No but seriously, I agree with everyone above and this does need to be addressed, the question is how are they going to accomplish this without offending anyone?

Not sure if there really are male teams or male divisions in sports, Ive always thought that they are open divisions, no explicit rules saying males only. (Maybe except sumo)

Female divisions however should be for females only obviously.

Even if a man has both his legs cut off he shouldn't be allowed to compete in female divisions

Clearly males changing gender & competing is almost NEVER going to be fair......just isnt.

Also I wonder if the swim team could pass lie detector tests about their views below:

"We want to express our full support for Lia in her transition," they said in the statement released late Tuesday, apparently after one teammate spoke out about Thomas.

"We value her as a person, teammate, and friend. The sentiments put forward by an anonymous member of our team are not representative of the feelings, values, and opinions of the entire Penn team, composed of 39 women with diverse backgrounds."

Can you imagine the pressure they are under to say what is ""right"".........

Right now its clearly a mess & likely will get worse before it MIGHT get better, sensible, not holding my breath, common sense is simply not being followed

And anyway, even with low testosterone they can compete..

Trans community 1 - Medievals 0

TokyoLiving...

This isn't a left vs right, liberal vs conservative issue.

Its an issue of common sense and fairness. Trans people are welcome to wear whatever they like, cut any bits off they wish too and take all the hormones they can get. But they are not women and should not be competing with women. Quite simple really. Their freedom and rights should not be at the expense of others rights and freedoms.

Trans community 1 - Medievals 0

let me fix that ;

Trans community 0 - Common sense 1

Loooool !!..

Of course they can compete.

Not just compete but dominate.

That's one of the problems.

Anyway, I'm curious, why are you pitting yourself against the trans community?

We knew these farces would hit the deadend like this

With the old NCAA rules, she qualifies. We'll see what happens with the new rules

She may still end up qualifying, given enough female hormone therapy

By guidelines, the NCAA cannot blanket-ban any particular group from competing --US colleges give everyone a chance-- but they can set standards

international teams should boycott.

There are no international teams in the NCAA

Slight correction to what I wrote before, after reading round about this.

Yes, the Penn team supports him, but individual team members and their parents feel it is very unfair that a male should be allowed to take the place of a female swimmer at the Olympics and other championships, and they have expressed uneasiness about sharing a changing room with him. He still has all his male bits and is attracted to women.

He looks like a male, he acts like a male.....and he's allowed to swim as a female?

There's woke, and then there's crazy.

among American conservatives

Really. So it’s only the “American conservatives” eh? Good ole MSM, keep driving that wedge. Anyone who doesn’t see a problem with this is emotionally compromised or irrational.

There needs to be a third and potentially fourth category for athletes. Cis-male, cis-female and either single category for trans, or two, for trans-male and trans-female.

Life isn't fair, but it is common for sports to have different competition groups by skill level. It is at the elite levels where the attempts to be "fair" break down.

Michael Phelps was very unusual and it showed in the results. For all the "normal" men in the competition, there wasn't much hope, unless Phelps had a bad day.

Now, apply the same goggles to view any Trans person competing in sports at an elite level. What is "fair" for the competition overall? Women have been split into their own competitions, sometimes their own skills, so they can excel. Female gymnasts are built a specific way to be elite. Men are built different. On the balance beam, the females have an advantage because there center of mass is lower. On the rings, men have the advantage because their arm, chest and back muscles are stronger with more weight carried higher, closer to the rings. Men with shorter arms have an advantage too.
