US is a nation of immigrants so the cricket team is also a team of immigrants. It's appropriate that a Patel is the captain.

But baseball soon replaced cricket as the favoured summer sport

No surprise, because cricket is harder than baseball. It favours technique, strategy and endurance over raw power.

And I always laugh when I see baseball fielders wearing gloves. Cricket ball is way harder than baseball and fielders don't wear gloves.

Just remember, there’s no three strikes…….

Also, people already can't stand it when baseball games last over 3 hours

Can ya imagine a whole day or days

2024 T20 World Cup Cricket on American soil is good for the spread of the game. Batters, bowlers, fielders, and wicket-keepers from 20 countries will have a taste of the American dream. Hitting sixes and fours, willow-wielders will offer incredible joy for their fans in the diaspora. Pacers sending jaffas, yorkers, bouncers, beamers, off-cutters, in-cutters, and tantalizing wide balls, will pose stiff challenges during the powerplay. Spinners bowling off-spin, leg-spin, googly, carrom, doosra, and teesra will take care of the middle overs. All the best to players, fans, and the organizers in the US and the Caribbean.

Don't worry, T20 cricket is the condensed version which lasts for 3 hours to match the attention span of Americans.

@EvilBuddha

What a load of hogwash.

Wicketkeepers and even cricket batter wear gloves, (batter also shinpads, and helmet in cricket)

And the impossible not to hit cricket ball travels way slower once hit off that oversize bat around 150 km/h versus 200 km/h for the very difficult to hit baseball

And puh-lease stop referring to a throw as bowling. Bowling is an underhanded action as per the sport of 10 pin bowling or lawn bowling.

Teaching moment over.

@Lepyon I specifically mentioned fielders, not keepers or batsmen.

Throw is what baseball pitchers do, in cricket its called chucking and you will be no balled. With an overarm action bowlers have been delivering 100 mph balls in cricket which is way more difficult than simply throwing, I mean pitching at 100 mph.

Great opening win for the USA vs Canada, and what a superb knock from Aaron Jones.

Rubbish. Nobody has ever pitched even close to 200kmh. And even if they did, it would be irrelevant.

Bowling is also the term used to describe what in baseball is known as 'pitching'. It's clearly very confusing for you.

?

I thought ‘pitching’ was what you do with a tent before living in the US.

Words and various meanings, eh?
