Naomi needs to come home to Japan and reconnect with the millions of fans that admire her and follow her progress.

I don't think Naomi Osaka truly cares for the country of Japan, her people, or people in general, just herself. She chooses money routes and looks for accolades, more than actually caring for causes and issues, imo. She comes across as a very trite and narcissistic individual.

Must be great to be able to continue earning millions and millions in sponsorship money when you can't deliver the goods.

She keeps firing her coaches.

When she fired Bajin as her coach, who broght her to the World No.1, she said something like happiness is more important than success.

I wondered then if athletes can be happy without winning.

Winning (or Success) requires hardship and sacrifice. But Osaka seems keep looking for an impossible coach who can give her a magic to win without demanding her hardships or sacrifice. That will not happen.

She will not return to herself unless she realizes that there is no happiness for athlets without winning and there is no winning without hardship and sacrifice.

Excluding the Miami tournament in March, Osaka has been a very unremarkable 7-8 in 2022.

Tamanegi....

Naomi needs to come home to Japan and reconnect with the millions of fans that admire her and follow her progress.

This is sarcasm right? Japan isn't her home, and as for millions of fans..... There was a time she was quite popular, even I gave her a chance, but her antics have long since drove them away.

tamanegi: "Naomi needs to come home to Japan and reconnect with the millions of fans that admire her and follow her progress."

Crazy talk. First, she won't be welcomed here with her current performance, and will be less than ever regarded as Japanese, regardless of her taking the nationality. Second, coming and being here would be the WORST thing for her to do if she wished to improve her game. The only thing staying here does for athletes is destroy their abilities while making them a quick buck by selling out to commercials and variety shows. We have seen that time and again; Ishikawa Ryo... or was it Ryu? The Japanese rugby players, Nishikori Kei, etc. They lose focus on the game because they start focussing on commercials, and then they lose, and their posters are relegated to the trash.

Naomi needs to come home to Japan.

Her home is a 6million dollar mansion in LA with her rapper boyfriend.

admire her and follow her progress.

That downward spiral.

Not having won a match since 2019

It looks like you made the same mistake I did at first. 2019 was the last time Venus won a match at this event. The sentence is ambiguous, but you can infer that she has won matches at other events from the rest of the story, where it says that she won her first-round match at Wimbledon this year.

Playing isn't just about winning. There are lots of reasons to keep yourself in the mix other than just winning. I mean, her name is in the title of this article when she's on a five-match losing streak. Maybe she just likes being at the events. Not my place to judge if she's still ranked and still making it into tournaments. I don't disagree that if she doesn't retire she might be forced out sooner rather than later, though, but just because someone's not where they once were doesn't mean I get to decide she's done.

She did WAY better than Nishikori, but just like him, we won't ever be hearing her name before long, at least certainly not from her "fans".

Not having won a match since 2019, and being 42, what is the point of Venus Williams continuing?

Surely she should now be coaching/mentoring young aspirants to reach the heights that she did.

Cincinnati Masters isn’t so big deal for the established tennis players as serves them as just a warm up. So they don’t put in their best to play. They conserve their strength for the US open!

Mark my words, Osaka will reach the semi finals or finals of the US open! That will be her come back tournament! Haters keep hating because you lot can’t in your wildest dream achieve all the success, recognition and money Osaka has achieved in her life!

Ouch. First round again.

She certainly triggers people. She turns some into catty schoolgirls.

she can always look forward to becoming a "human rights" activist

Great.

She can do anything she likes. She’s absolutely minted. Rolling in it.

Good luck to her.

In the event that Naomi-chan decides to leave the world of professional tennis, she can always look forward to becoming a "human rights" activist.

Not joking. I didn't even know that she was still trying to play tennis. Seriously.

Yet Naomi made $60 million more than you last year...and the same the year before.

Not bad for "washed up" eh?

No. She cleaned up, but she is washed up.
