Yes, it must have hit him pretty hard, but he has kept quiet about it, allowing Toto Wolff do the talking, knowing that it might affect his ability to get permission to go to Abu Dhabi and race at Yas Marina.
Reading between the lines, it seems that he was a little off-kilter, maybe happy to take a back seat, especially as one of Mercedes' final aims was to help Bottas stay ahead of Max for second place in the championship.

Honda's technical director Mr Tanabe floated the possibility that Mercedes might have been worried about the reliability of their MGU-K, but felt that Red Bull's overall package won this particular race. He said that he personally will not be satisfied with three wins this season, (including the Alpha Tauri win by Gasly) but only when they take the constructors' championship.

PS Reading a Japanese site for comments from Honda, it mentioned the radio communication from Max where he asked half-way through the race if it would be ok to turn the power down, and how his crew had told him, "No need."

Congratulations to Max and Red Bull on this win. No mention in the article or by Max of the fabulous Honda power unit that carried him to first place, the only engine so far able to challenge Mercedes, except "power-wise we need more".
All these drivers changing seats, with not enough for everyone, reminds me of musical chairs. The start of the new season should be interesting.
