Should never have happened.
Many fans will stay in tents. zero alcohol. Bad timing for club football. Too many deaths of immigrant construction workers. Appalling living condition. Late wages.

Really? The people I’ve spoken to see Qatar as the most unsuitable host in memory.

A “Viewer’s guide” without any information at all on how to view the matches in Japan!

Four years is a long time… but (!) here it is, folks. :)
Top teams: Brazil (without a doubt), then France and (maybe) Argentina; second line: Spain, Portugal, Germany and Belgium. (sorry, folks, I still don’t think England can do it). ;the winner will be one of these seven teams, and my money is on Brazil.
(about Japan:) let’s hope they can, at least, learn some lessons from the games against Germany and Spain (because imho, it’s impossible for them to survive that group, not even their yamato damashii can save them), be more humble and accept that, outside of Asia, they’re mediocre and they still have a long way to go.
oh yeah, sure it’s gonna be tense, and you might be expecting to see some blood and teeth but… nah; at the end of the day it’s (just) a football game, it’s all about the game and this is why we love sports.

The stadia are air-conditioned, but I suspect heat is still going to be a factor, even just for the conditioning of the players. No European country has ever won in South America and they may struggle to win here, especially the more dynamic teams like England and Germany.
Brazil look good and are way more solid than that team who lost 7-1 eight years ago.

Thinking about it, that does sound a bit parochial.
Does anyone see this as one of the most eagerly anticipated World Cups in memory? If so. why?

Some of us may be interested to see how the Qatar authorities deal with the fans. Memories of Dutch male fans dressed as women and holding aloft a Dutch wife doll. And how will the fans get round the alcohol restrictions? Images of lost of plastic water bottles filled with vodka, gin, shochu, etc. If it goes well, it could break down barriers. (Hmm, not sure how to interpret that last sentence.)
