"Why oh why does England never, ever win competitive games comfortably? We never have as many cliff-hangers during qualification... With our striker talents we should have won that 3 or 4 nil."

I've heard this before. In fact I've been hearing this for decades. I think the answer is we and our media almost always overestimate the quality of our players.

A thoroughly well deserved win as well for Wales.

England deserved a couple of goals too earlier, but were unlucky. Glad to see both home nations through.

The dragon has awaken! Was delightful to see our boys in red put 3 into the Russian net but at the same time I was gutted to see Akinfeev concede as he's one of my favourite goalkeepers!

Nonetheless, the "no-hopers" won the group. Roll on to the next game!

Well I didn't see England beat Russia by a whopping 3 goal difference.

Although the best team between the two home nations was England by far. Well done to Wales for putting their dominance into the net, but England were the better team versus Wales.

I know exactly what will happen to England. We will get Portugal in the next round, Ronaldo will score a hat trick and bare his six pack, and that'll be the end of another sorry foreign adventure for us.

BTW well done Wales

front, you can actually see it on the faces of our players when we are in tournaments. You can see the apprehension and there is no calmness. Look at Germany or Spain and they appear far more relaxed. This is a pretty decent England squad, a lot of young talent. But we do not coach our players for big knockout competitions.

Rambo has been on fire this Euro.

Heheheh this puts England on the same half of the knockout bracket with France and Italy and with the other group winner that's most likely Germany

The Russian needed to win the game and they go all out attack leaving space expose at the back for Wales to counter attack. On the other hand, Slovakia just needed a point and they park the bus 11 men behind the ball with England dominated the whole game.. Henderson and Wilshere should be left on the bench after last night performance.
