Wimbledon struggles to avoid shadow of Russia ban

Fascist Russia and Belarus are rightly banned from Wimbledon, the Olympics, F1 and the World Cup - just as Nazi Germany and Apartheid South Africa were.

Rewriting history yet again, cobber. Avery Brundage, the head of the US Olympic Committee was more than happy to support Berlin hosting the 1936 Olympics as he was an anti-semite and sympathetic to the Nazis.

Apartheid in South Africa effectively began in 1950, but the country was allowed to enter the Olympics up until 1960, thanks to the patronage of Brundage again who had become IOC President in 1952. South Africa was finally banned from entering the 1964 Tokyo Games just a year before they were due to begin.

I don't remember Wimbledon banning American players during the illegal invasion of Iraq when it was bombed to smithereens and eventually millions of innocent people died. Oh, that's right, that would also have meant a ban on British players.

Keep politics out of sport.
