Croatia will take care of the lads :)

Congrats to England, I fell asleep during the first half...team Ikea was just rubbish and their effort not worth a place in the best 8. Worldcups are not won by just defending, I think Sweden didn't get that note.

And then the English fans go to a nearby IKEA and trash it after the victory.

Compare that to the Japanese fans, including the players, who spotlessly cleaned up their mess before leaving the stadium.

Being hoarse from cheering feels soooooo nice!!

England won pretty easily. They played a great game and Sweden was just there.

burning bush:

And British politicians won't even go to the stadium to support their team because some junkies fell asleep in a park.

I'll let you in on a secret. Some British politicians aren't English.

Americans really need to learn about some geography outside USA:

Meow! The cats’ chorus is in full voice here.

I thought England played well. I just thought that was worth a mention.

A refreshing lack of the Neymars too. Sweden are a decent bunch of lads.

Gareth Minamiguchi's team had a good game. Special praise due for Pickford's critical saves.

Except they didn't. A handful of lager louts jumped up and down on a bed. Tedious troll is beyond tedious. How many sockpuppets does one poster have?

Sweden is a woeful side. Hopefully Croatia can knock these Brits out!

@Nan

Sweden and Croatia will easily beat this hapless England squad

Another one of your predictions fails, it’s becoming quite a habit with the anti-England kids!

@Nan Ferra

You are sounding a bit desperate. The certainty in this post has evaporated faster than a concacaf side in the World Cup:

Sweden and Croatia will easily beat this hapless England squad. The only club they could squeak by would be the woeful Russkies

Now we have reached the “hopefully” stage.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

I'm happy the Croatia advanced but I expect that England will get the job done. I am surprised that after doing so well Sweden was asleep, but no complaints.

It was enjoyable to watch a game with no diving or rolling around like babies.

Both teams were hard but fair - other teams could learn from this game.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Well played to the three lions, they really are shaping up as a big chance. A lot to like anout them, AND they usually dont spend the whole game rolling around on the grass like other “big” teams. If they dont win it this time, how good are their kids going to be in 4 years?! I’m going with a France v England Final.

@ old man 13 -

Can we really just let this go now? Everyone has read and heard enough.

I am really enjoying watching england play these days -

Have to wake up early to watch the next one

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Well done England!

Pretty pathetic as some E boys on this forum can't take a different opinion as I think that Croatia is the better side based on football skills. But the lads are young and the Croats had a tiring game yesterday so they have a good chance.

Not always the best teams move on in a tournament as the Swedes with their defending football were lucky that Germany lost in that group. As we say on the European continent, the ball is round.

I fully agree with that. I honestly don’t think it’s possible to argue otherwise.

I love banter - it’s part of the fun of football. I just think it’s in the spirit of the game to say something along the lines of “well played”. Maybe it’s an English manners thing ;)

Indeed it is.

Where are you from by the way? Let’s have a bit of fun at each other’s expense. It’s part of the joy of the game.

From a Scottish point of view, the main problem with this England team is that there is nothing to really dislike*. We could say that they've had an easy ride so far, but that's probably due more to their own performance than the weakness of other teams. Now we have to face the possibility that England may win, and as a result, waistcoats will be back in fashion. I hope all you English people realise what you have unleashed.

* We're still working on it.

Exactly, and my post 'Croatia will take care of the lads' is no more than that with the footnote that I think that...

When someone posts 'Croatia should trash England' there are often other issues going on :)

Nobody ever asked where I'm from on this forum although I gave some hints like that my 'home city absorbs most tourists per capita after Venice' or like 'yesterday I was de-escalating with another client at my football waterhole a situation with drunk English supporters after they won a friendly in my city' :)

think we have a good chance off beating Croatia sure they're a better team than IKEA but the boys are playing well and as a real team. THREE LIONS ON A SHIRT....fifty year of hope never stopped me dreaming.

I think England winning the world cup would be a shame for football since they would then benefit from losing their final group match on purpose against Belgium to get an easier route to the final. That would be a shame for the sport. Any of the other three teams winning would be fine though.

Be my guest :)

So a Three lions bar owner in Kobe, interesting.

Good times for a change, for English football and its supporters.

We're in the World Cup semi-final for the first time in 28 years with a smart and modest manager leading a squad of young, exuberant, talented and ego-free players. Not only that but England's U17 and U19 teams both won their respective World Cups last year. We've all seen false dawns before but maybe, just maybe, they're going to do things right for once.

Zlatan lost the bet to his old teammate David Beckham, lol

https://twitter.com/LAGalaxy/status/1015328612315066368/photo/1

Zlatan initiated the bet (naturally), offering to buy Becks dinner "where ever you want in the world" if England win.

If Sweden win, Zlatan, the country's all-time leading scorer with 62 goals, has demanded that Beckham buy him an item of his choosing from Swedish furniture chain IKEA. Fitting.

Beckham accepted Zlatan's terms regarding IKEA but rebutted the England terms, saying if England win, Zlatan must "come watch an England game at Wembley wearing an England shirt and enjoy fish & chips at half time."

Yes!

Unlike some commentators here and elsewhere, at least Sweden aren't bad losers and behave with dignity in defeat.

Sweden were very dignified. Good lads who did their country proud.

I can imagine some of the Neymars posting here wailing and acting up at 2-0 down.

Have you got over Russia going out yet? You must be gutted.

Jimizo, I've tried to be nice, but...

We're talking about football. What's dignity got to do with it? Millions of us Scots watched with horror as no Swedish players hounded the referee after England's first goal. Just look at the photo above. "A clear foul" is what I expect to hear from every Swede on the planet, and repeat it for the next four years.

One Scottish politician tweeted the following, "ABBA records flung out, hammer now taken to the Ikea furniture and the Elk’s for the barbecue. Other than that, I’m taking this well ......"

There seemed fewer cars at the local IKEA when I passed earlier today. Looks like a boycott.

Sweden, you let us down!

A handful of lager louts ...

Within 2 yrs the EU countries will have border control to do some 'fans' picking ...but with the tail of Ms May going further down and probably disappearing between her legs the Brexit will be softer and softer and.... :)
