If FIFA are happy with the standard of refereeing, then I would suggest that random drug testing is not working, because these guys have to be smoking something.

Happy with the refereeing, happy with the ball, happy with not using modern technology, happy with an out-dated disciplinary system which sees star players missing games due to wrong calls.
As long as the money keeps coming in, FIFA will continue to be HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!!!

FIFA sucks.

Refereeing has been pretty good so far, with a few notable cough-Coulibaly-cough exceptions.

The fact that dubious and clearly wrong calls cannot be discussed is plain archaic and stupid.

I am sure the referees are happy with the money they are getting to throw games. When you have several star players sent off with red cards, players who haven't been sent off for red cards or second yellow cards for many years, (Kaka, Klose, etc), it sounds like something funny is going on. I don't even like Australia's team, but Kewell getting a handball penalty and an automatic red card in the game against Ghana, when the ball hit him in the chest, was ridiculous, especially when it was obvious that it wasn't intentional. When you think back to the Germany-Serbia game and there was an obviously intentional handball that was only given a yellow card and a PK, you wonder if there is any standard at all in these WC games...

I am not happy with the standards of FIFA.

These referees are horrible, the US got robbed!!

The quality has been questionable. Such a statement from FIFA is basically trying to protect the refereeing system which is already protected too much.

The worst referee I've seen in my life! He should be punished...

I must say, the refereeing seems to have improved dramatically after the absurd over-carding of the Germany match and that terrible USA/Slovenia debacle. I bet a few phone calls were placed shortly there-after.

I stopped watching a few matches because of the red cards. It seems that at least one person gets a red card in every game. What an absolute disgrace the refs are to this WC. It seems they just want to appear on TV more and act as if they are the center of attention in the game.

stop watching the refs and watch the sport

With the way these calls are going, I could just stand on the field and call the game. Easy money.

You appoint either One ref to referee all the matches or institute a video appeal regime .We overlook the spread of corruption today . A referee who hands out 9 cards in one match ,while another would hand out none or two at most ,seriously disadvantages the team he picked on . We don't give people sentences for murder equal to those using bad language ,So why is exuberance in scoring a goal (take a shirt off) ,a pride to walk off the field rather than being stretchered off (Ryan Nelson NZ ) and yet to come "sneezing" at the ref the same as breaking a guys legs ? Hockey has a sane system Rugby,Rygby league.AFL,swimming athletics all use the video Is FIFA scared too many refs prove to be inept or corrupt? Sep Blatter you act remarkably much like Pope Benedict... Trust me I know best ! No Sep that want wash anymore today !
