Let us hope England will save the world from watching German-turkish team in the world cup this year.

LobeUSA, don`t worry we know all too well how to deal with German aggression. Expect England to give them a damn good thrashing. Let us hope the German hooligans behave themselves after their defeat, unlike in the past.

They fail to mention we have players injured and that, but no fear, we shall conquer our arch rivals within the stipolated 90 min utes.

Which players exactly are you referring to?

rockbuster, she is talking about the former West Germany that had to join up with East germany becaus ethey didn`t have good enough players.

Don`t matter how many lagers the Germans have at half time, the three lions will thrsh them.

rockbuster: LoveUSA just holds some particular grudge towards Germany, for no apparent reason aside from them beating Australia 4-0, as well as them not being as good looking as the Greeks. :)

Seriously, though, I like both teams, but if England plays the way it has been and no better they're done for. Since it's such a rivalry, though, it's likely England will try harder, and seek a bit of revenge for 2002. It's a shame this match up had to be in the top-16 and not the top-8, for example. This kind of match is a classic, and it's a shame one of these teams will be eliminated so 'early'.

Ah, right! Well, I thought it was impossible to like the Greek team for any reason. Still, what do I know?

As for England v Germany, it should be a classic. I think if Schweinsteiger is missing for Germany it will be a huge blow them. He is the crux upon which their team operates. He gives players like Muller & Ozil the platform to perform. They will move heaven and earth to get him fit for the game. Impressive as they have been going forward, they have, as the article states, been a bit suspect at the back. I expect Defoe & Rooney to start again for England, and Milner will be told to swing the ball into the box as often as possible to test Boateng, Matzersaker, and Badstuber in particular

Serbia beat Germany a little. I expect England to finish them.

the matches are not balanced. USA against Ghana and England against Germany are two games on different levels. It is a pity Germany or England will be eliminated early but I hope England continues. Have never been a fan of the German straightforward soccer.

As long as football prevails, all will be well. I think the kids from Deutschland will be shown a lesson in the game. Mexico are going to go for it. The US will beat Ghana.

LoveUSA: "Serbia beat Germany a little. I expect England to finish them."

Serbia didn't mean Germany, the Spanish referee beat Germany into the ground, then Serbia just walked over them. That remains the worst example of refereeing I've seen in soccer (and other sports) in a LONG time.

That being said, I'm not sure I agree with your comment about the matches not being even. I'm not sure how the teams who just qualified last night are pitted against one another, but I'd say that in fact the matches seem to be quite fair, except perhaps for Japan vs. Paraguay in terms of ranking. South Korea lucked out being put against Uzbekistan instead of, say, Brazil, and while I think the US is doing a lot better than it has to date in the WC, I still don't think they're on par with a lot of the European teams (again, in terms of rank... they all seem to be doing poorly this time around).

Still, you just never know this time around who will move on and who won't.

It will be a good match but I am so tired of the English acting like children with regards to Germany and WWII. The issue is that they have outplayed you in the past. No need to bring up the war with regards to football.

I hope the music to The Great Escape can be heard of the vuvuzelas. Who's talking about WWII history? I hope England sink the German team like they sank the Lusitania in 1915!

Germany should defeat unhappy England unless the English all inject themselves and their coach with happy formula before the game. What a depressing bunch they are.

The English had ONE reasonable game and now expect to beat the Germans? Funny the English press has a short memory when it comes to their team`s performances and a long one when it comes to ww2. Anyway no matter what what the press says, the only team the Germans regard as their "rivals" are the Dutch, but even that has mellowed down since so many Dutch players have been playing in the Bundesliga for the last few years. Germany-England=two-nil and a one way back to fish and chips land.

and a one way back to fish and chips land.

You mean curry land. And I agree with your score prediction.
