So Brazil has no law of the amount of cash you can bring in?

DudeDuece,

Brazilian officials said bringing in such an amount and not declaring it to authorities would be illegal and that the entire amount could be confiscated.

It's an odd thing indeed, as the article says they pay the money in cash "because they always have", but the players are quoted as saying they'll transfer it to their accounts.

Brazil isn't the sort of place I'd like to be walking around with 75 grand on me.

Then again, Ghana has had it's currency troubles in the past, perhaps this has something to do with it. When I was there I remember struggling to figure out prices, as the conversion from old Cedi's to new Cedi's was in progress. The old currency had an extra 4 zeros on the end.

Perhaps these guys are planning to go home via Switzerland or Singapore and drop the dollars off there.

@dude, well since it will be in a diplomatic bag, by international law Brazil has no right to search Ghana officials bags or any other countrys embassy bags for that matter. Diplomatic imunity

The point is moot. Ghana's World Cup is over after this 2-1 loss to Portugal, so just wait for the players to return and hand them the money at the airport. That way you don't have to pay anything to Brazil.
