Probably because Suarez wasn't fully fit. If offered a swap, I'd take a half-fit Suarez in exchange for the fully-fit four of Sturridge, Rooney, Welbeck and Lambert, At this level, you often need something special to make the difference. He had two chances and buried both. I agree that the likes of Sterling, Barkley and Shaw could be a cause for optimism.
