I'm sure they'll get a lot of support. The largest group of Japanese outside of Japan live there, I've heard, there are many half-Brazilian, half-Japanese people, and they've had good relations for a long time. I just hope they equally support the Ivory Coast team.

People here do NOT undertand Brazilians nor their soccer fans. Sorry, if say their is a match between BRAZIL and Japan?? Maybe some Brazilians with Japanese faces may try and support the Japan team but your regular BRAZILIAN would never ever if dream of doing that and then if your face is Japanese but you do live in BRAZIL and your friends find out that you were NOT supporting the BRAZILIAN team, well you all can imagine how popular these traitors will be at work, school, in their neighborhoods etc...

Is this an expectation for the the actions of the Japanese referee in the match between Croatia and Brazil?

@Elbuda: Brazilians also scream 'beach' every time the opposing team gets the ball? I think Brazillians are a little different and being a Brazilian of Japanese ancestry supporting Japan and Brazil during the WC won't do anything bad to those people lol

Here in Recife, where I live, and where Japan plays today with Ivory Coast, the game Japan 3 vs. Italy 4 made history. The Stadium was at its fullest, and all the fans were rooting for Japan. It must be noted that the Japanese descendants in Brazil live mainly in São Paulo. In Recife, 3000 Km north, they are very few indeed. Today, all tickets are already sold (I could not get mine). My Family has no blood ties with Japan, but both my sons practise Judo and are fans of Hayao Miyazaki, Pokémon and such. If the game is not against Brazil, our round eyes will surely look forward to see Japanese victories!
