With the horrible state of human rights affairs in Putin's Russia, maybe not so many people want to travel there and fund its economy with tourism. After all, Putin has even the USA wrapped around his finger.

My nephew initially got match tickets for himself and his son. The hyper inflated cost of the accommodation put him off, he just coulldn't afford it. The flight tickets were expensive too, but cheaper than two nights accommodation in Volvograd, not exacty a prime tourist mecca.

It would be even worse if you were gay. Putin hates gay people.
