Ummmm...... yeah!

Go Japan!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Am guessing Poland will field a B squad for this and give the game away.

Go Samurai Blue! Poland look the weakest team in group, only could score one goal to Japans 4. I expect the victory. Top of the group would be great, and send a big message to England and Belgium. Honda Keisuke to score again!!

i'm sure they don't want the dubious distinction of being the only team in the group that COULDN'T defeat poland.

It's good attitude anyway. Japanese team is very competitive and they have proved it on game with Senegal.

The only bad thing about Japanese players is they have pulled hand of their opponent's players when they couldn't run or trying to steal the ball from their opponent players. That's no good and even pulling shirt of another player can be given foul. That kind of habit will land a penalty if was happening in the penalty area. They need to remind about there are many video cameras and 13 video assistant referees (VARs) in 2018 World Cup. Don't pull hand of opponent player.

Poland, already eliminated, just isn't going to give a damn about this match.

Poland, already eliminated, just isn't going to give a damn about this match.

Though they might want to salvage some dignity. I think it will be a close game and am predicting a draw.

2-1 for Japan. JT User who guesses correctly gets a free beer from JapanToday?

3-0 to Samurai Blue!

The only bad thing about Japanese players is they have pulled hand of their opponent's players

This can be said about every team, lol. So far no penalties. Hopefully they are not due to concede one!

Japan could still go through even with a defeat against Robert Lewandowski-captained Poland in Volgograd, but would need Senegal to upset the Colombians, who returned to form with a sparkling 3-0 win over the Poles.

I'm pretty sure they will go through if Colombia smash Sengal also, no? Even if they are equal on goal difference and goals, I think Japan would advance with less yellow cards.

Quite possible as Poland have looked absolutely rubbish thus far.

And for all the Japan doubters, they have looked really lively.  Maybe getting rid of Hosiwhatisname wasn't a bad plan after all.

Focus to win and end with draw will be the best to Japan go to knockdown stage. The 2 goals of Senegal was weak points of the defenders + goal keeper and Poland players focus their eyes on it. I expect young players have their best performances to go "hanpanai attacks" and also help the defenders. The veterans best assistances will be very essential to draw or drastically win!! Go hanpanai Japan!!

Dont like sports, but i must admit , it is actually fun to watch japan. My partner allows me to drink.after diner to the wee hours and i can shout in our house.

Even with cancer, Honda da best. Also the spunk from Yasu

What else would a captain be expected to say?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Columbia beat Poland 3 - 0. Japan beat Columbia 2 -1 , so it looks like Japan should have a better chance for a victory against Poland than they did against Columbia.

Senegal looks tough and hungry.

Predictions: (just for fun)

Japan win over Poland by 2

Senegal win over Columbia by 1 (but this one should be a more exciting match than Japan v. Poland)

Place your bets!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I'm glad they are more positive than they have been in some time, but I think that could also be what bites them if they are not careful. Don't just try to win, try not to lose. They seem to be underestimating Poland. Wasn't but a week and a half ago Japan was in the same boat.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

under promise, over deliver.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Would Poland be the first seeded team to lose all three group games? It can't have happened many times.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Colombia are the real first seed. Poland took advantage of the ranking system and it backfired, lol.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I hope Japan wins and faces Belgium in the next round. I'm a fan of both teams (I live in Belgium)! Too bad Morioka (RSCAnderlecht) wasn't selected for the Japan team. Go Samurai Blue! Go Red Devils!

Columbia beat Poland 3 - 0. Japan beat Columbia 2 -1 , so it looks like Japan should have a better chance for a victory against Poland than they did against Columbia.

In tournaments it doesn't work like that. The 3rd games in the group with Spain, Iran, Morocco and Portugal shows that despite all predictions the outcome is never sure.

National teams are never that 'predictable' as club teams. Only a few countries have teams with a backbone of the same players like Spain or Germany.

A team with 'mediocre' players but with the right fighting spirit can surprise any time and that's the charm of this global tournament.

Poland maybe wants to show that they can play football despite their previous results, so Japan should be cautious :)

True enough, Netgrump.

Care to make any predictions?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

For the sake of football it will be good to see Japan win their game hopefully with more playing time for Honda.

Colombia- Senegal is more interesting or exciting as you said, and I tend to say Colombia as they were playing well in their second game but I wouldn't underestimate Senegal.

Both have to win. My bet would be 2-1 for Colombia :)
