sorry to rain on the parade

We’ve had the sulky Welsh children slagging off England and now we have the hockey on skates people sulking.

Just enjoy the football. It’s fun.

I bet you out of every single person in this picture, media aside, 1% are actually true soccer fans.

Where is this nonsense based on? The poster is definitely no fan, because a 'true fan' would call it football :)

sorry to rain on the parade but in a little over a week it will all be over for Japan and we'll be back to business as usual

tough group? its the weakest group in the whole tournament.

Poland is rank 6th and Colombia is ranked 10th. Japan is ranked 40th which pretty much means any group they were in was going to be tough. Japan has exceeded expectations and deserve praise, not expat bitterness.

columbia, senegal and poland tough group????

Pretty tough from a pot 4 side viewpoint - as with all groups. Poland are admittedly one of the weakest sides from pot one, Columbia are a very handy pot two side and Senegal are one of the toughest pot three sides.

Any pot 4 side would see it as an achievement to go through.

Japan have performed very well up to now. Smith will tell you how Honda’s assist against Colombia for the winner and his equalizer yesterday were crucial. He came off the bench in both cases.

The Japan-Senegal match kicked off at midnight Japan time, meaning many fans will be spending a blurry-eyed Monday in their offices, especially those stranded downtown after public transport service had shut down for the night.

They couldn't lay on some special buses/trains for this? Typically inflexible, bureaucratic "kechi" Japanese thinking.

It doesn't matter much as they get Belgium or England in Round of 16 and will face a similar fate to Panama....5-0 most likely either way.

Japan look a far better side than Panama who have been extremely poor. Any side playing Japan will be in for a game.

There's media present, make sure you pick up all your trash.

Amazing! The parties are still going! No sleep for many people. Bring on Quarter Final, then anything is possible!

Not sure they want to play Belgium or England right now though!

yes & no. Defo not the strongest but probably one of the most even groups of the comp. One-sided groups like A or G (bel-eng-tunisia & panama) are imo 'easier' (if you're one of the top 2 sides that is).

No 'weak' team per se in Japan's group.

An exciting game from both teams. Best of luck against Poland on Thursday!

Japan did great in coming back for the tie.
