I've always been a bit (perhaps unjustifiably) negative toward Zverev...he's undoubtedly talented, but never seemed to be able to finish the deal. But he played very, very well in Madrid. I watched his matches vs. Nadal and Thiem in this tournament, and he seemed unbeatable. He played with such power and confidence, mistake-free tennis. The final was on too late at night so I didn't catch it, but based on the way he played in earlier rounds, he really deserved this one.

Well done.

The Original Wing, as you probably know Zverev had all sorts of private problems, which probably affected his focus on court. His double faults became quite famous. It is nice to see he is back and on the way to fulfill his great potential.

Zverev had all sorts of private problems,

Like beating up women and attending super-spreader events without taking precautions?
