And considering the fact they were shown to intentionally slow down iPhones back in 2017, I’m not too surprised about this actually. It’s unfortunate, but considering that, and the power that big tech has nowadays, at least in the US anyway, I’m actually not that surprised.

Hopefully the judge will rule in fortnight’s favor, because yeah, I agree, 30% for these apps, is completely ridiculous. And you don’t need 30% to manage in App Store, that’s a BS claim by Apple.

Not only Apple

Apple isn't a monopoly. There are choices. Don't like Apple? Choose some other smartphone.

Don't like google? There are phones without tied to Google or Apple. There are alternative operating systems for many phones. With Android, you can load different app-stores -- I use f-droid. You can choose to load APKs from unknown places, if you like, though many do require google's android infrastructure (i.e. tracking) to work.

Having a smartphone isn't a "right", it is a convenience; an expensive convenience.

I'm not a fan of Google or Apple. My smart phone runs an alternate OS and only connects to the internet via wifi. $3/month in costs is the trade-off. Lots of great programs work just fine without constant data, constant tracking, many GPL apps don't have any advertising at all. Of course, a dumbphone for $20 still works too.

We each have a choice, even if we don't want to make that choice.
