This is exciting research. Hats off to all involved. More science!

Exciting stuff.  Whenever I read that bodies like this may have been origin of Earth's water I am a little puzzled.  How many bodies of this size would it need to produce the amount of water we have on earth?

this is very exciting news, and another leap for science and research. The more we learn, and see how complex the Universe is, there's a lot of knowledge to be learned. it's all here for the taking.

The Ryugu asteroid, around 300 million kilometres from Earth, is estimated to be between 100 million and one billion years old,

Good thing it's not necessary to pin it down to within a couple of centuries.

Water based life may be all over the universe.

I'd bet everything I got on that, Reckless. And that wouldn't be, ahem, a reckless thing to do. No doubt there is H2O all over the place. But unless someone invents warp drive, we're not going to see any water outside our solar system.

People said that just leaving Earth's gravity couldn't be done. As for interstellar space travel, one of these days....

Sci-fy is based on science that we already know now. It becomes reality in the strangest ways however. Look at some of the inventions and ideas from the 60s STAR TREK series for instance.

Humankind will, step by step. We will in the future venture into interstellar space among the stars. We'll wipe out cancer, AIDS, Alzheimer's and other diseases - but curing the common cold will still be elusive!
