Apple holds the line. It's sure to annoy Trump and his lot.

Problem is pending litigation and liability of a non- merit-based approach. SCOTUS with its recent ruling (Harvard University), has opened floodgates of litigation, much of if class action related to such diversity hiring.
Apple will face and is likely already facing many such lawsuits claiming discrimination. Don't mess with SCOTUS or you'll have to pay up, many lawyers now circling Apple = target $rich.
Wonder how long shareholders will tolerate $payouts?
FYI Apple employees, definitely not Trump supporters, but far more than 2020, but still a clear minority, like CA, where Trump lost heavily but picked up about 10pts.

Diversity programs are definitely discriminatory. As the very essence of it requires non-equality.

Well, look at that!
That's $500 billion investment and 20,000 jobs
Costco already did it - and they're making a lot of money! Why change what's working

Lawyers are probably already working closely with job applicants, big settlements being quietly paid by Apple, because NDAs are SOP, Apple's like a stuck $pig at a pig roast, everybody's licking their $chops, naturally Apple can deduct these payouts to reduce their taxes.
Lawyers all work on a contingency basis and take 50% or more of these settlements, like a gravy train, no risk.

Not according to several higher-up Apple employees I know.

Apple will never go broke. The richest company in the world. It's worth nearly $4 trillion.

Only people at Apple that know of employment discrimination payouts are their top inhouse lawyers or outside counsel if they outsource and board members.
Above don't talk to anyone, not mentioned in annual reports etc. Dark little dirty secret, employment lawyers in North Cali do really well, Apple's a BIG reason why.
That said, still a great company, any serious investors had shares for many years and thus quite happy;)
SCOTUS has unleased employment discrimination suits, massive litigation wave taking place now in US, Apple is a top target.

Good for Apple and the shareholders who "get it".
I still think Apple is an evil company for their support of the CCP, but I can cheer for this single thing. Good job Apple shareholders.
I probably own some Appl stock through some ETFs, but don't own any directly.
EOE has been a legal requirement for decades. Trump can't undo a law with an executive order, regardless of what his fragile, petty, mind believes.
After all, he still thinks he actually isn't a felon, didn't lose the 2020 election, and didn't start an insurrection on Jan 6th.

Jim Crow was discriminatory. Whites only policies in hiring were discriminatory. Diversity programs look for qualified people other than white males, emphasis on qualified because a lot of white males frankly are losers unqualified for many jobs. In the old days being white and male was enough because blacks, Mexicans and women ""knew their place". No competition for dumb bunny whites. But with diversity programs Bubba has to step up his game because there are people of all races and ethnicity's and, gasp, women who are more qualified. Is it really discriminatory to prefer hiring a qualified African American over a less qualified white? Nope, but before there was an emphasis on equal opportunity and diversity these people were overlooked because, well, they were different to to whites less desireable.
And you have a layer of men who simply object to being managed by a woman no matter how competent she may be. Some men see women as inferior beings and nothing will change their minds. I don't think the nation should be bound by that kind of nonsense.

It must baffle Asians, who are usually discriminated against as a minority in majority white societies, that they suddenly get lumped with the white people in US uni and tech company DEI counts.
Positive discrimination is discrimination, and it will only create bad feeling, resentment and push back. There are better ways to offer opportunities to all historically suppressed groups, whether they were victimised due to their poverty, gender, race or religion.
You have to be cleverer than DEI if you want to make progress without undermining your position. The Democrats were not clever enough in the implementation of their policies, and painted too large and too easy a target on their backs in this and other areas.
